Players that left you gutted when they left...

DTS

The Business
Got to say with events in my life at the moment (All good) football has gone on the back burner a bit but the departure of Marky Gower has left me gutted.

I know he wasnt everyone cuppa but I really feel anyone who has played the game to any standard know the importance of a player like Gower who will always show for the ball.

Great goals, skill, flair, creativity...I really feel the G-Man has left me feeling gutted.

Felt the same when Freddy went but his talent was too great for us where as I felt Gower was sort of at his level.

Just wondering if any other player departures have left you feeling blue in the past?

I remember being pretty gutted when both Terry Nicholl and Stuart Parker left, but for rather different reasons! I agree with you about Gower and Freddy, I think I felt pretty similar when Stan went too and also Justin Edinburgh, who I always liked.

I'm gutted the G-man has gone aswell. i was the same when Freddy went. cant say i remember to many others who have left me feeling down after their departures.

First thoughts

Kightly - as we never gave him the chance
Bentley - he gave everything he could give to the club - should have had the offer of a 2 or 3 year deal
Jupp - as above
Crown when he went to those wretched Gills(are we their feeder club?)

Loads of players that have left have left me feeling gutted, but if they are 'bettering' themselves both financially and at a higher playing level ie Royce, Austin, Prior (1st time), Powell, Eastwood, Collymore to name but a few - who can blame them though - it's their job whereas it's our passion.

Stanley Victor Collymore - seeing him in a Forest shirt for the first time was like a knife through the heart.

Darryl - Always been a favourite of mine.
Gower - Quality player never said a bad word against him.
Eastwood - Obvious really.
Hammell - Great Player
Forbes - Great talent and one of my all time favourite players.

There has been loads.

Darryl is the most gutted I have felt. Just before Freddy. Darryl just tops it because of his peachy most lovely **** and in fact one of the most good looking players in the league. It was a sad day today eye candy wise for the team. In fact that applies to Gower too really. Darryl will always be my first love though.

Tolson - gutted that injury meant he had to leave us, felt that he was a great player at the club.

Kightly - maybe a little bias here as i knew him.

Dudfield - felt we let him go a season too early.

Gray - Same as Dudfield.

Jupp - Ok, he had a few dodgy moments to say the least but was always the one that actually tried and performed in big-ish games eg; Southampton at home and Luton at home.

Bentley - At the time i felt we lost our battaling midfielder and even o the bench could come on and change the game.

Eastwood - predictable i know, and even though he got lazy towards his spell with us he was still something special. Also when he left i felt that looking for his replacement was not going to be an easy task and unfortunately i was right there as we are still looking.

Flavs - not only am i heartbroken but i think since ive been a southend supporter he has ben probably the best keeper we have had.

Gower - Again its heartbreaking, but even when he has not played to his best he always gave us an option out wide, and every season he gives you goals, not jut goals but quality goals that have been remembered and at times been crucial goals too.

Hooper (not gone yet but he will be) - Again, a bit bias as i know him, but gutted mainly that he was never given the chance and Harrold was given at least half a season starting with no success and never really gave us an option and even after Hooper scored 12 in 19 games in L2 he wasnt even put on the bench at Donny or taken a gamble on for the coming season, yes i know we have signed strikers for the coming season but if Harrold was given a chance last season why isnt Hooper getting the chance?? So overall, cant blame him for going.

Em.
