I actually don't dispute those too much, Britt's largely untried and Tomlin has only ever played lower league whereas Fred has played higher and for his national side.

That's true, but at this moment in time Britt is probably a much better investment than Freddy in terms of potential and by those standards is a bargain for at least any League 1/2 team.

Most of them aren'y worth anything. Any fee received is usually the equivalent of paying up their contract. The only ones who might concievably command a fee in excess of any salaries due would be Clohessey and Cresswell IMO.
And some of the higher earners may well be available on a free if the buying club are prepared to meet their wage demands, thus reducing our own outgoings and 'freeing up the budget to bring one or two in' in football manager speak.
Sad fact of life for cash strapped lower league clubs in the present harsh climate.
