2024, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
Our first month has passed as a League One club and we have dealt with it well with wins Vs Bradford away, Col******r home, draws with Walsall away and Huddersfield at home and defeats Vs Port Vale at home and Scunny away and a Carling Cup defeat to Southampton at Roots Hall. Who, so far, has stood out for you at this level?

Is it Wayne Gray, been fantastic so far this season and has been involved in the majority of our goals. Is it Captain fantastic? Another superb display yesterday, and with Guttridge was the best player on the pitch. Is it Guttridge who is keeping Bentley out of the side? Is it Gower who is returning to the form displayed in his first season? Is it Cole who has scored his first SUFC goal in the Essex Derby? Goater possibly with his brace yesterday and equaliser on his debut Vs Walsall taking his goals tally to 252 goals in his career. Flahavan is another possibility carrying on his end of season form into the new season. Barrett possibly, or Spinner, Eagle, Jupp, Wilson, Hunt, Petts, Smith, Bentley, Eastwood or Lawson?

You decide. We need a player and a reason.

I reckon flavs, and Gray. Also i think James Lawson has been superb, and Jozic!

Got to be Gray and the Goat. Or Freddy for being an FA first

Ummmmmmmmmmm, Kev Maher for being a God ?

Two choices for me - Darryl or Gray - a justifiable case for each one.

I had to include Lawson in the list as he has played a part in our competitive matches during the month of august, wouldn't have been very fair to leave him out.

For me its got to be Maher. Yesterday was a superb display from the skipper, I spent a 5-10 minute spell of watching him in the second half yesterday and during this spell and throughout the game he didn't waste a pass, won his tackles and was talking to the players around him. I'd recommend all of you to watch him continuosly for a 5/10 minute spell during a match and watch the work he gets through and how easy he makes it look.

One of these two for me as well, I cannot decide which one though.

Wayne Gray for me...exceptional.

Goater couldnt have done much more than he has.

Guttridge has changed my opinion of him.

Gower has been revitalised so far.

Wonder who Wiggy will choose...

On that basis, why not the bloke that nearly won the (now antique) car in the half-time challenge v Southampton?

Or the amputee that gave it a go anyway, despite still having to shoot from the half-way line on crutches (v Huddersfield).

My tuppenceworth would be either Eagle or Gray. To be honest I've only picked Eagle because he's exceeded expectations, so I guess that means Gray.

A tie between...

Gray - I'm sure I'm not the only person here who condemned him to a season of bench-warming with the arrival of the Goat. Being proved wrong has never been sweeter.

and Guttridge - looked good right from his first game in a blue shirt for me but now he's had a full pre-season with us and has begun to settle in more, he looks fantastic. How on earth is Benno going to win his place back?

Special mention for Maher - solid as a rock, all of our best moves still start with him.

and Gower - looking back to his best and working hard. Can't see how Tilly could leave him out when he's in this good form.

Got to agree with Hexagon Sun. Those three have probably been our standout players.

Still think there is more to come from Gower though.

ps I take it those who think Flahavan has been our best player, think its a good thing that we are out of the league cup? I think he's been decent enough since then, but he had a shocker that game and hadn't done too much up to then.

Pawel Abbott.  Can't argue with that scoring record.

Always one aint there. He hasn't really stood out for me because I new, when he scored that overhead kick Vs us all those years ago that he'd go on to play at a higher level, so his more proving my self right then standing out

Wayne Gray's my first choice, he's been outstanding so far this season. Well done Wayne.

Gutts deserved an honourable mention. He's done really well so far.
