Pitch

M@CC@ 16

First XI
Don't know how much of the pitch is cleared at the moment but Tilly should get all the lads in to the ground for an early training session, so we can get used to the pitch condition more than scunthorpe.

What !! A training session before a game ?

That would ensure we lasted 90 minutes on a heavy pitch.............

The pitch was bad on saturday by getting chopped up, it will look like a council park pitch if we trained on it early!

Great way to chop up the pitch. Fantastic idea.

If one short training session is going to chop up the pitch I don't hold much hope of them completing the full 90 minutes. Probably not a bad idea to have a quick run out on it to see what it's like, but as it isn't freezing shouldn't be too difficult to play on I would have thought.

The players have been shoveling snow all day and you want them to then have a warm up...........
Poor sods.

Because the grass on the Roots Hall pitch is a Unique form of grass that can't be found at any other plain of turf in the land?

Players know what it's like to run on a heavy, choppy pitch...

I just don't see that it hurts to have a 10 minute passing session - there will still be some snow around, and it helps to get the eye in.

Because we play a passing style of football, well attempt to anyway, and we need to maintain whatever state the pitch is in... The fact that snow has melted onto the pitch and it required a pitch inspection means the turf is obviously sodden, and any kind of action will chop it up instantly.

If Stockport's excuse for a pitch can be passed fit then I don't think we've any problems with ours.

That would be the warm up though.....

However a full training session as indicated by the first post is a different ball game (scuse the pun)

To be fair M@cc@ 16 doesn't stipulate a FULL training session, just a training session. I did feel that the reaction to this was predicated more by who the poster was than what he said.

If it chops up that easily our passing game is doomed anyway. Might be nice to know in advance.

I have been down to Priory Park today (closest grass to Roots Hall) and the mud is quite slippy but with a ball it is also quite sticky so running will be a lot harder, hopefully not much of the ice will have melted into it and it will be quite dry

The warm up, would be done by both sides therefore we would have less of an advantage.

ACU - I could say the sky is blue and get a debate going with these lot.

I will be perfectly honest, it was a reaction to several kids sat behind me at Stamford bridge who throughout the warm up referred to it as Training . The thread reminded me of how f******* irrititating this group was so i decided to put my pedant hat on.....
