Phil Brown returns to one of his old Clubs Hartlepool on sat. The injury to Julian Bennett possibly not as bad as one or two first feared. Phil says the Squad is not necessarily complete yet and he hopes Don Cowan will be fit by the end of his deal. As its a short one I suspecth e'll get an extended short term one to then prove what he can do competitively when fully fit.

A good read this column in the Echo. And so to your thoughts?.

Never believe what you read in the paper -Bennett out for 6 months. Cruciate ligament ruptured.

Is that true James?? The other area where I take your point about not believing everything you read in the papers is that in his column it suggests the Forte deal is still alive. Yestertday a poster was told by the man himself this deal in particular was dead. No disputing either way mind. at least i said yestertday that bennett's problem could be ligament trouble and after what you say it seems this is right unfortunately.

Would I lie to you?:winking:

The bit that interested me was that Brown was offered the Hartlepool job a few years ago, but it fell through as he wanted to take his back-room team with him, which they could not afford. Can somebody please remind me how many he has brought with him to our club (anyone else apart from Penney and Shaw?).

Just those two, and doubt they are on much at all. Both combined are probably on less than one of our lowest player's wage.

Presumably "afford" would be a relative term anyway. Both clubs will have a staff and players budget so more money on back room staff would likely just mean less on players. It would therefore be less about affordability and more about value for money - and that comes down to the Chairman then, ultimately, the manager's choices.
