The Business
I cant quite remeber when they came in for Tilly but for my mind it seemed to coincide with our dramatic downfall.

I think they unsettled Tilly as it seemed obvious he wanted to at least chat with them. Dont blame him but was very impressed with Uncle Ron as always.

About the same time Freddy started to seem to talk about leaving. Tilly can hardly offer a convincing aruguement to stay when he wanted to go himself can he. Morale in the camp seemed to suffer a bit as well.

There are loads of other factors I know but I think the Norwich interest was the catalyst.

That's a good point there DtS.

Also, with all the chat about UEFA coaching licences too recently & how it "clones" tactics throughout teams, e.g. the corners thing, I wonder if too the work that Tilly has done on getting his Pro-Licence qualifications might also have confused his seemingly simple formula for success.

Unless they approached us on the 19th August I cant see how thats relevant.

Freddy was going to leave anyway so again, nothing to do with Norwich.

We can sleep easy now that Tilson wont be getting too many more approaches ...

Well at least in August and September we were playing well when getting beat, now our heads go down to quickly and we don't look like we have the stomach for a fight. A classic sign that the players are no longer willing to go out and die for the manager. I do wonder if the team spirt has gone all pear shape with the departure of certain characters last season.

Oh yes he will. How many managers win manager of the year twice in a row? He hasn't become a bad manager overnight and if the half wits that want him out win he'll just go to another club and be more succesful there.

Last time we were in this division Peter Taylor was a crap manager (lmao)

Depending who he manages, he still is!

Worthington was sacked around early October so it would have been about then that they made the enquiry.

The phrase clutching at straws springs to mind.

If it wasn't for Norwich we wouldn't be bottom?!?

I've tried to find out whats going wrong this year and it's simple we are not good enough. Probably down to the quick promotions.

All we can do is keep our chins up and get behind the boys!

As i understand it, and from someone who is very close to the club, we currently have 2 issues.
The first is that Mr Eastwood is now believing in his own hype and that he is strutting around the club as if he is the best thing since sliced bread. This has made him rather unpopular with his team mates and is causing resentment and unrest.
The second is that Tilly and Brush have had a rather big bust up over what to do about our current situation, big enough for Tilly to try and walk out. He was calmed down by uncle Ron and persuaded to stay, but he is hardly talking to Brushy who is taking the training, picking the team and Tilly is just acting as a figurehead.
Now i wouldnt normally report such tittle tattle but the person that it has come from i trust implicitly and has been spot on in the past with Newman's and Wignall's sackings and the recruitment of Goater last year. I fear until we sell Freddy and part company with either Tilly or Brush then we will continue to sink like a stone.

Someone posted the exact same thing last week i think, maybe it was you? Or someone else, if so, then this must be fairly accurate

Do you honestly belive that anyone in football (bearing in mind their egos) would allow someone else to act as manager then face the press "as a figurehead" when the club 10 points from safety and haven't won for 17 games?

Tilly has never been in a situation like this before you have to remember, inexperience tells. He's had 2 and a half seasons of success.

O.K silly me that explains it. He's inexperienced so the board have said to him

"O.K Steve, cheers for the past two years. Now we want to try something a bit new..Paul is going to pick the team and train them.

While he does that can you twiddle your thumbs a bit then deal with the baying press conference after the match"

It just wouldn't happen.

if it's true and I believe it might be as Tilly did not do the post match interview and there's nothing from him on the web site then this needs to be sorted asap. Lock them in a room until it's sorted or only one is left standing. You cannot have a double act falling out.

As for Fredd, if he's doing the big bollock act a few words from Ron M will not go amiss.

By the way if it is true then Tilly needs to regain the reins asap. Brushy was an excellent coach at Orient (I'm sure our Orient friends will either confirm this or tell me I'm talking bollocks) but a lousy manager.

I never meant the board would actually say to him Brush picks the team etc etc. What i meant is that he probably doesnt know what to do in this type of situation where it seems, we're obviously not good enough and the players arent putting the effort in.
