Breaking News Pepple recalled by Luton

Don’t you think that it’s an opportunity for Waldron to step up and thrive as well?
After all he was the leading scorer in the NLN last season.
I’m baffled as to why everyone has written off DW.
Waldren has been written off by several on here for no reason other than it's the thing to do. The poor sod has had too few opportunities or decent runs in the team for supporters to really be able to cast judgement it seems to me. However, Kev and co see him in training and I'm starting to wonder if they have lost their confidence in him. That would be a real shame as the bloke has scored goals regularly in the past. No doubt more informed posters on here will tell me that I'm wrong.

i believe he isnt wanted by Luton and they arent interested in renewing his contract but a club higher up than us have expressed an interest. So that would make sense. they can get something for him now rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season. but it cant be a huge sum for someone his age and record so shame we cant match it or something similar to keep him. Im sure its probably been discussed but maybe out of our range
Hopefully we might still have a chance then, if this other club doesn't agree a fee with Luton.

I personally think he is worth pursuing now from what I have seen from his performances for us. Probably got a better chance of a smaller fee for him now than at the end of the season when his goal tally would hopefully be a lot higher.🤞

No you're totally right but so far Kev hasn't given him the chance. I'd happily see him given one. I mentioned Kendall as he's the Cards replacement as such (good at pressing, closing down etc). I've always thought DW made an effort when I've seen him too so they could work as a pair with Waldron making runs behind.

He hasn't been recalled to be part of their matchday squad. I think the general feeling was that he'd stay. But perhaps those holding the purse strings feel it's worth the risk to loan him out to a higher level, in the hope that he does similarly well and they can get more £ for him eventually.
Those holding the purse strings or the agent who stands to take a nice little bonus signing fee if he takes him somewhere else.

He had a recall clause that ends I believe on the 9th. Luton and sufc were happy for him to stay for the rest of the season, but based on his goals for us, his agent has been touting him around. I believe it's his agent that's found a spanner and thrown it in our works.
Not heard which club has shown interest but if Luton have recalled him, clearly he's going to be getting an opportunity somewhere.
It would be great if with moncur gone and pepple gone, any money freed up could go towards some sort of purchase or loan deal with cards who will no doubt want more than when he left. Hear he's not happy at all at fgr and isn't averse to a return.

Totally agree. Waldron has hardly been given a run in the side. The likes of Bonne who continues to fire blanks and to a lesser extent Walker have been given far more opportunity. Maybe now Waldron will be given the opportunity with Bim gone and Walker injured we are very light up front

Are you "in the know" or is that a guess about the leaving date and the agent ? Not Cards, thank you. Not even a goodbye to us, so why should we welcome him back ?

Isn't the issue with Waldron that he's been injured and hasn't really been able to be fit consistently? Or have I just imagined that? (It's possible, BTW, as I do feel I'm going senile at times.)

"in the know" is very well connected so you can take what he says as being pretty accurate or close to it. it has also been mentioned previously that the recall clause was in place up to the 10th Jan i believe

no you are right, he has been injured and obvs needs time to get fit, but bringing him on for 3 mins like we did Saturday wont help him.

Thanks ITK.
Bim isn't a child so if the agent is doing that then its because Bim wants to get game time at a higher level. At least if it doesn't work it will be the agent and Bim (who is ultimately his employer) suffering the consequence of their own decisions, and not Luton forcing anything on him. Lets see where he ends up and how it goes.
On Cards did FGR pay up front or is it as usual staggered? In which case the fee should be an easy issue - either future payments cancelled or at worst what has been paid return or a portion of it? Wages are in the court of Cards and COSU. Would both sides now compromise given we know how much he's missed and he would prefer it here?
All assumes FGR play ball but he's hardly set the world alight....

Ive also been told this has come out the blue and literally happened today. Kev and Co assumed we had him for the season and then today this has happened. Is there any chance that the deal wont happen with the other club or is that it for Bim with us?

This loan recall hasn't come as a surprise to the club. They must have known this would likely to happen especially with his goal scoring form. What happens next is obviously the most Important move do we dip into the loan market again or stick with the current players?
If we go down the loan again route would prefer it's one we can turn into a permanent one if it works out

All Southend supporters should know by now that players come and players go. If they are of a certain age and good then they tend to go quicker. It is just a sad fact of life.

While I am not pretending that this is in any way good news what seems a 'crisis' is often an opportunity for others. When Bim arrived at Southend some of us hoped he might be successful but no one really predicted it. The stats fiends would have noticed that he came to us from Luton on his fourth loan spell. He had previously spent loan time with Grimsby, Sutton and Inverness Caldedonian for a total of thirty games scoring just one goal. Yes, one goal. Before coming to us his scoring output was right up there with Bonne and others. There was nothing in his previous record that remotely hinted he could score seven goals in nineteen appearances with us.

His success was a pleasant surprise but also underlined the glorious uncertainty of sport. We may find a replacement as good or even better. Or not. What is sure that if we were to sign someone who could score ten plus goals in what remains of the 2024/25 season he would be likely be gone elsewhere before the start of next season.

Here is hoping for a 5-0 win (Bonne 3, Waldron 2) on Saturday.. With Southend things are never quite as good, or, as bad as they seem.

If we are to finish off the season well I suspect it will be as a result of winning 'ugly' a few times which will give those on SZ of a pessimistic nature ample opportunity to vent.

If we are unable to mount a realistic run for the play offs then it will make for much misery being voiced on SZ. I will be disappointed but it is not the end of the world as whatever the outcome of the 2024/25 season we are are in a much better place than we were twelve months ago. Losing a player is much less serious than losing the Club.

I wish Bim good luck for his future and thank him for his effort and commitment during his time with us. He deserves success in the game. Him leaving opens an opportunity for someone else to flourish. Let us hope this opportunity is quckly grasped.
