Two Olympics - Zero medals.

She knew she wasn't fit, why did she go?

Most sensible people take the day off work if they have a hangover or other medical condition that affects their performance so what made her think she could train for a marathon on a fractured leg?

Has she any idea how many scratch-cards I have done to support her Olympic bids/holidays?

i agree, she wasn't fit enough this time so shouldn't have gone. However i can only think she wouldn't compete in London in 4 years had she won in Beijing. Looks like we will have the same hype then but at least we'll save on the airfares. ;)

I think it's a disgrace that these so called 'superstar athletes' are so far up their own back passages they don't realise the sacrifice their fans are making. I myself have spent a good few quid on promotional burgers and ready meals in the vain hope she'll come back with something.
Her lack of empathy with the common fan makes me sick.

Also, I think she trained and raced whilst loaded on PCP.

You can run through a ****ing brick wall if you're off your t*ts on that ****.

Actually chap, I think she and a couple of other competitors curled one out on the pavement just before the race.
I could see them on the BBC live feed comparing length and girth.

I dont think she has, seeing her race on Sunday reminded me of some sort of mobile stick insect. She must weight about 5 stone.

Another annoying aspect of Radcliffe is the way that Brendan Foster thinks she can do no wrong. His fawning over her in embarrassing. Not to mention the fact that she's only ever referred to by her first name.

i was saying the same thing at work this morning...plenty of footage of Paula stopping but none of Mara crossing the line in 6th.....disgusting really

I've just read a piece by Jeff Powell in the Mail and he has said much the same thing about the Beeb's fawning approach to her.

Two points here, one already covered that the achievement of Mara Yamauchi has been almost overlooked, and the second is that IMO Radcliffe should not have been allowed to run, and another runner should have been selected in her stead.

What was you watching? As when I was watching you saw Mara actually kick on in the last 100metres against the Russian to secure 6th spot. At first the Russian responded and the gave up which was good to see Mara get the place she deserved.

Also regarding Radcliffe considering she is still the World Record holder at 2hours 15mins 25 secs. I am not surprised the world's media has an interest in her. I did think it funny how even the Chinese TV had a seperate pin on the map showing Radcliffe, to go with the Leader pin and chasing pack pin.

Actually she stopped for what was euphemistically described as a pit-stop, but the cameras didn't follow on.

Don't think the Chinese are too bothered by that type of thing. It might be taboo somewhere like Singapore or maybe Japan, but not in China.
