BBC ESSEX can reveal Phil Parkinson is set to become the new manager of Championship side Hull City.

Col******r United chairman Peter Heard and his Hull counterpart Adam Pearson have agreed a compensation figure this afternoon.

The fee that's been paid by Hull to the U's to release Parkinson from his contract is in the region of 400 thousand pounds.

Col******r United have released the following statement:

"We are able to confirm that a sum in the region of £400,000 compensation, plus the recovery of legal costs, has been paid to Col******r United for the early release of Phil Parkinson from his contract, enabling him to join Hull City.
"Hull City have given an undertaking not to employ or solicit any individual who is employed, or has been employed in the last three months, by Col******r United. This agreement is in place for a twelve month period from today. "

Guarenteed 6 points then.

Good bit of work by the Col******r board and legal team. Find out who they are, they might come in useful one day.

Pretty shrewd there from the farmers - didn't their physio just resign and was set to be off there, looks like he was a bit quick on the draw!

£400,000 as well, that's not bad at all.

I was thinking the same thing.

Notwithstanding the impact managers have on a team, the fee certainly seems over and above what one might usually expect from such an action. Couple that with the 12 month restriction on signing Col******r players and it's a remarkable piece of business from a club like ours (well almost) that might also usually expect to be royally shafted!!

My guess is that the restriction on Parky will be worth as much to Col U this season as the £400k.

Of course, having said all that, it still doesn't prevent Hull City approaching Col U for players. Any player that wants to leave Col******r and join Parky will be no good to Col******r this season anyway and the clubs will no doubt agree reasonable fees.
