Parkin £50000

Mentions that we may put a £50,000 bid on the table for Parkin at cash strapped Macc - they have turned a few clubs away already

Hope not! Complete donkey - probably pre-Macc, the worst player, ever, in the Football League.

Smacks of desperation.

Parkin? Please, no. How on earth is he the sort of player that is "better than we already have"? Every time I've seen him, I thought he was an absolute bloody lump...

God i hope not, but Chester tabled the exact same bid which was refused with a definite no and a "Not For Sale" sticker...

A lot of people have stated on these baords that they feel we need a target man (I personally don't). Target men that score goals simply do not exist in our price range. Who is there other than Parkin?

I don't think he's too bad a player and can play at centre half as well.

I am unsure about Parkin, he had a good partnership with Matthew Tipton last year, but I am not sure who made who look the better player.

In his defence he scored a screamer for Macc against Wycombe in that 5-4 game a few days ago.

he cant be too much of a donkey he scored 26 last season and 8 so far this year but reckons an offer from Lincoln which involved a six-figure sum plus players was turned down as well so £50000 sounds a bit light for them to accept

Interesting target - seems to fit the bill with regards to age (24), height (6'4") and versatility ("equally at home at centre-forward or centre-back") but is a northerner as far as I can tell, and Tilly has gone on record a number of times stating that he would be looking at players from the south.

£50K seems a bit on the cheap side, but a little higher (with add-ons) could see Tilly get him in - if he is the real target...

He is a total crock a sh!te.......Would rather we spent £50k on heated seats in the South Upper.

Id have thought £50k or a little higher for a player who scored over twenty goals last year isnt much of a risk...even if he was just used as an impact player...eg brought on near end of games if chasing a goal, to get on end of a corner, or defend them at other end...or to play on those cold muddy pitches oop north, where a more subtle approach may not work.

That said, the time we played them two seasons I do remember texting my mate in another stand and commenting on the 'big fat pub team player'...

If this is a target for Tilson, i can't believe he's missing a stunning oppurtunity to land a young, naturally talented forward in James Hayter.
His contract with Bournemouth runs out in the summer, and with them in financial crisis he is unlikely to resign if his future is not assured, and Bournemouth themselves have there hands tied in accepting a bid to match his talents.

£150k with a sell-on clause and Goals/Games bonus would probably land him from Bournemouth, and in my opinion is an excellent forward and acquissition for the club to have at this level...

He certainly impressed me on New Years Eve - always a danger, and I think would partner Freddy very well, as he would stay in the box, allowing Freddy to drop deep in the "second strikers" role he likes.

Isn't he the striker who came on as a sub for Bournemouth, scored a hattrick in about 6 minutes (so breaking the league record) and then found out his Mum and Dad had already left as it was a midweek game, and they had to get the last ferry back to the Isle of Wight?

What does that make Wayne Gray who scored half Parkins total, and a lot of those were penalties? 8 goals in a season where he has been injured for a lot of it isnt bad either. Wouldnt go more than £50k though. Macc need the money do they not? How about the Posh, any decent players as Fry seems to have put them all on the transfer list?

I think there's a reason they're all transfer listed, that being there all sh!te...

We are not going to get Hayter. Of the 72 league clubs 72 are looking for a forward! There are limited forwards available. Basic economics tells us that the price will be high, which puts us out of the game. Even if we could afford the fee we couldn't offer the salary or oppotunites of many of our rivals. This is without factoring in the fact that Bournemouth don't have to sell.

January transfer windows only favour the big clubs and the sellers. Whilst we may be top of the league we aren't in a position to compete so don't expect us to

Disagree about Bournemouth not having to sell, I think you may find they do. As stated previously Hayter is out of contract in the summer and I will wager they will not risk him going for nothing.

Whether he comes to us or not he will move in January.

Players are known to change their minds. If Bournemouth make the play-offs and get promoted then he may well decide to stay.

Past precedent shows us that Bournemouth work on this plocy with their best players out of contract. Elliot and O'Connor both moved to Burnley in the summer on frees after not signing new deals. Neither were sold

Yeah but as I said elsewhere yesterday, so is Brian Stock & they (allegedly) turned down Megson's bid to sign him for Forest & stated it would take at least £1m to get him!

O'Driscoll, the manager, stated it would take £1m to land Stock, who is younger and more naturally talented than Hayter and is a naturally pacy winger who are just as sought after as strikers today...

The point made is, whereas the manager may have expectations for the player, if a substantial bid around the 500k marker was made the Bournemouth board would more than likely be forced to accept... In no stretch of the imagination is it a good sign of financial health when a club is forced to sell its ground in a lease back scheme to survive as a business, we of all people should know that.
