Paranoid Flahavan?

I see Wiggy's mate / alter-ego has been having another pop at the club after he has been offered a one-year deal

Tuesday 22 June
"I've tried to get in touch with them, without any success, so it seems to me that they don't want me anymore -- that's the impression I'm getting anyway."

Thursday 24 June
(after he had been offered a one-year contract)
"I don't know what's going on. I'm pretty much in the dark, but it's political. The chairman brings in a goalkeeper and puts him on a higher wage than me. You assume he will play. I assumed I would be number one next year. The manager said I would be number one, but other people have made their decision that they do not want me to be."

I think Flahavan needs to take another look at the 2003/04 Season Review ...

The guy won't fight for his place. He wants to walk into the Number 1 role. If i was Tilly id kick him out on his arse.

He wouldn't have far to fall, at least.

It was actually in the Benny Hill Show back in the 70s. Proving that even flesh eating murderers have a bawdy sense of humour.

Which is ironic to this thread, seeing that our set piece defending resembles a Benny Hill chase, with Darryl the little baldy type guy, I guess.

I think many of us,have forgotten the times Flavs saved us in a game, and it far outweighed the times he has let us down.
Flavs problems started IMHO when his brother died ,and we cannot understand what this may have down to Flavs as a player or more importantly to him self, maybe his grief hasnot come out.
I hope he stays with the club, and fights for his place, who knows what the Bartman will do for us ?

Whatever your decision Flavs,I wish you the best whether its here or at another club.

I'm sure the vast majority of us will wish him well if he leaves the club for pastures new and I'm sure the vast majority will support him if he stays. He does have a talent but there are also some glaringly obvious problems with his game which I believe the Tilson / Brush combo are trying to solve. If Flavahan would acknowledge those problems and work on getting rid of them from his game then I'm sure he will be an even better all-round keeper destined for better things ... but not at the moment ...

I agree that there is a significant problem with Flav's game.

Not many of you will agree with this though [am I about to open a can of worms here?], but I am going to throw my hat into the ring on this one...

All the players arrive for training on a regular basis, so why is it that Flav's doesn't command his box as much as he should? have they not worked on this in training? and if they have, does he just forget it all in the heat of battle? there is a deficiency somewhere and could this problem lie with the managers not working on him more? or is it just because he is a midget in GK terms?

Out of respect for Tilly & Brushy, I will add that I have never seen one of their training sessions, so what would I know... I am going to shut the fcuk up now

David James is no midget as EnglandS GK,and Sven & co must have the same problem as the shrimpers with the keeper staying on his line.

The goal keeper role is all about confidence with your defence, and vice versa for the defence, and I think we will all admit the back 4 or 5 haven't bred any sort of confidence in defence in last few seasons, hence while we wallow away in mid table or relagation. We have allways had one very good player to shore up the defence and the remainder mediocre.

In the number of years Ive followed the shrimpers Flavs rates high in my table of keepers I have seen, alas his problem lies deeper than wanting to play for the club, whether his agent has inflated his ego for more money,or the club are paying him back for last season fiasco, when Wiggy/Robbo were lording the club is another thing.
I will be amazed if Tilly hasn't made the right decision,as he's proved that he is his own man with decisions concerning players who are to stay at the club.Che Wilson being one, very cheap and he must see potential there, otherwise there are a 1000 Che's in the lower league awaiting to play in league football.

I hope Flavs stays and fights,it just IMHO the problems is deep rooted, and stubborness will only ruin a career that this young man has in front of him.
