Owners rights

Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
Saw this in the Mail on Sunday.

The Russian wife of Bournemouth's part owner Maxim Demin stormed into the dressing room at half time to deliver a pep talk. Losing 1-0, the players sat shocked as Irena Demlin demanded a second half improvement. They went on to lose by the same score but she was defended by Demlin's co-owner, Chairman Eddie Mitchell.

"She, her husband and I have put a lot of money into the club and she was entitled in my view to express an opinion. People who are responsible for the money are entitled to express an opinion. She felt frustrated, we all felt frustrated, but she felt her frustration should filter down to the players."

Just saying.

Yep. Got the desired reaction as well didnt it!!

I take it others also heard Eddie Mitchell, the co-owner of AFC Bournemouth (but don't mention Dorchester City to him), on 6-0-6 the other night? People may be entitled to an opinion, but that was proof, if ever it was needed, that there's a time and a place for everything.

Ah -- sweary man.

I have to say I'd be a lot more against the idea if it had been Ron's missus that had stormed in to the dressing room!

What gets me most is the nerve of people who say the owners have no right to have a rant. 'They should stay away from the dressing room'. Says who? I have owned businesses and employed a good number of people and I certainly would not listen to any of you lot on here telling me what I can and cant do with my own business. Whether what I did was good or bad, as owner it was my right and privilege to do it. All you bleaters who think you know better should shut up until you have bought the club. One thing for sure, when its your money going into the employees pockets, lacklustre effort is very quickly greeted with a reaction.

Id be annoyed if we were playing well and he did it, but posters on this forum are complaining that the team havent done well enough yet criticise RM for complaining.

There may be a time and place to do it and after the game is more sensible, but its too late by then.

I dont think hardly anyone has said he does not have a right to have a rant. The point is doing it an appropriate time, was it done in the correct manner and whether it is productive.

I feel the effort from the players has actually been very good on the whole this season. I agree in that particular game it was not up to standard but there were a lot of other factors which contributed to the poor display also.

As for the average fan not having a right to an opinion. If we didnt pay to watch the game then Ron wouldnt have any money to use.

The point is you are trying to dictate what is and what is not an appropriate time for a rant. That's your opinion and that is all it is. If the owners want to do it in the dressing room before a game, during a game or after a game, it is up to them. Whether they have got it right or wrong is also up to them. I am sure we all know better, but we don't own the club. People should be more concerned about players picking up a wage and not doing their shift and not feel sorry for their feelings as if they were told off schoolboys. They deserve a rant, they know it and it has nothing to do with where or when. That goes for Luggy too.

But whether we like it or not, football is different to most businesses.
Why would a group of footballers listen to an owner who knows nothing
about the finer points of the game.
What other business is there, outside of sport, where you pit your ability directly against another person.
Not only that, you do it in front of thousands of people. And then get judged by fans forums and the press.
You are also in competition for your place in the team. To compare with other businesses is wrong.

I agree its only my opinion, just as yours is only your opinion. Am i not allowed to write mine on Shrimperzone because you do not agree with it?

"People should be more concerned about players picking up a wage and not doing their shift"

Am i the one dictating?

I'm reminded of Len Shackleton's autobiography he included a chapter about what the average football club owner / director knew about football. It comprised a blank page.

A great read. You can't get the original, but the book he wrote before he passed away, "The Return Of The Clown Prince", contained its entire manuscript. He and Brian Clough had the right idea about chairmen and directors.

As did Tommy Docherty, apparently Deadly Doug Ellis said to him, don't worry Tom I'm right behind you. To which the Doc responded I'd rather you were in front of me where I can see you.
