Our bench last night

Am I right in thinking we only named six substitutes last night? If this is correct, I am slightly confused as to why we didn't name a seventh, which we had every right to do.

It would have been an ideal opportunity to give one of our youth players a taste of the big time, or perhaps Scannell or Foran could have been included.....?

Seeing as we (the fans) pay the players wages, and will continue to follow the club long after Tilly and Ron have gone, I think it's time we were given an explanation as to why it's been mentioned that certain players will never play for our club again. Do you agree?

We're happy to pay players wages and at the same time happy for them not to play. Surely that's not right!

I couldn't understand the Francis and Betsy subs coming on when we were 2-1 down either.

However I can't see any scenario where any other player would have got onto the pitch in advance of any of the above, so is there any point in putting someone on the bench just to make up the numbers.

O Keefe was there in case there was a midfield injuriy once betsy and Francis were already on the pitch (even then walker may have got the Nod)

What it does show to me, is that Francis/Sankofa (which ever one is not playing) is our only defensive cover.

Francis I understood as another outlet for set-pieces. Betsy, dunno.

To keep them happy as he intends on using them for the rest of the season. When he next refers to our fantastic team spirit, it is ploys like this which build it.

O'Keefe couldn't have come on anyway. In the 2nd half, Stanislas' laces on his left boot snapped so O'Keefe gave him his left boot to play in!

Exactly what I posted in another thread. He looked as if he was trying to get out of there as soon as possible.

surely we could have just put one of the promsing youngesters on the bench as a reward for there hard work.

England often take younger players away to give them experience surely we culd have done the same. Even that 16 year old kiddie unless he has gone to Everton already.

Yep that's what I thought. Hazell has been on the bench 3 times this season. Why not again?

It was a 8:10pm kick off, and if it had gone to extra time and penalties it would have been well passed their bed time, and plus he had school today.
