LMFAO LMAO LOL at Orient. We are in league 2 and get higher attendances. Also my favourite time was when we beat them 3-0, barney hatrick, and the same season we beat them away 2-1 aswell ;)

Lol, deluded fools! Of course we don't have to go back too far to remember a good win, but they clearly don't understand that we've been discussing our favourite win! Boxing Day season before last was pretty good as I recall :winking: but clearly not a favourite when there are so many wins to choose from!!!

If you look at the history, they probably are a tad bigger (or at least have been). They have spent one season in the top flight and more seasons in the second tier than we have.

However, over the next 20 years that will change as we will develop our support whcih we will be able to accomodate in our new stadium while they will be forever stuck at a capacity less than 10,000 in Birdbrain Road and will have to switch venues to Upton Park in order to get a good crowd should they ever draw a big side in the Cup (snigger).

Relax people. In fairness, I think most of the comments on that thread are pretty tongue in cheek and nothing different to what Daggers fans might have written last year if we'd drawn them. Thing is, for the time being, Orient and Col U are in a higher league than we are - a temporary situation you'd think due to our well publicised financial situation but one we've just got to take on the chin. I don't buy into the higher league = bigger club mentality though as our crowds and fanbase have been and are likely to always be superior to those two clubs.

They're only responding to our thread with a set of tongue-in-cheek posts. Besides, Tommy, why were you browsing another team's message board anyway? You'd never catch me doing that. [cough, splutter] :whistling:

In all seriousness, the whole 'we're a bigger club than you' subject is one of my biggest pet hates. Ultimately it's epidemic, as Del Boy would say, as clubs are where they are on merit. The likes of Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Southampton - all clubs established in the top flight for many years - have sunk to the third division in recent seasons, and another giant in Sheffield Wednesday are facing another season there alongside Charlton 'Curbishley-has-taken-us-as-far-as-he-can' Athletic. And look where Bradford are now.

I don't remember us reacting well to the whole tin-pot club jibes when we were in the Championship. Even in League 1 we had tossers like Ronnie Moore claiming his club "should be beating teams like Southend". We need to start doing our talking on the pitch.

D'oh! That's what happens when you read a thread while eating lunch, thus spending 20 minutes writing a reply. Damn you...

Ha, I thought you made some good points though about the whole big club thing - especially about Sheff Wed and Bradford. I read your post thinking "ah yeah, should have said that!"

You're talking about Bradford City as if they are a "big" club fallen on hard times. They spent most of the post war years kicking around in the bottom two divisions and the couple of years at the highest level (which we might just have had if we hadn't sold our best player to a rival team when well placed!) were the break from the norm, not the current situation. Their main claim to fame is a disaster.

Fair point about Bradford. Nevertheless, their fall epitomises the nature of football and why fans should never take anything for granted.

(snigger).

Good points but I still wouldn't say there a bigger club. If you look at the likes of Swansea now in the premiership, with Leeds a league below and there a bigger club by far. Very controversial but I believe we are a bigger club than Orient at this time.

Yes, we are a bigger club than the O's which is why our fans should be more angry than they are at watching the dross that is in front of us in Division 2. Orient have matches against Sheffield Wed, Sheffield Utd, Charlton etc to look forward to and yet we have fans who cant wait to see our first two matches against the mighty Hereford and Accrington!!
We should never have lost our League One status, thanks Ron!

Agreed, although they have won the FA Cup as well (admittedly that was pre-WWI).

Really who cares.

They think they are bigger, we think we are bigger the truth is were both about the same I suspect. I really couldnt care less as all the matters is who does the business on the night vs Scummy Orient.

As have Bury who hold the record for the highest cup final win 6-0, back when Cricko retired in 1902. It's whether you equate history with size. If so as fbm pointed out with their one season in Division 1 and a FA Cup Semi Final in the 70's then Orient are a bigger club. But we all know the truth.
