OOH! Chrissy Powell!

This is not a post about some bloke in the pub has a Sister who knows Chris Powell's Mum's postman.......A very good and trusted friend of mine is a registered football agent (in the North). He told me last month that Charlton would consider loaning Chris Powell in the "window" and asked me whether I thought Southend would want him, given his past associations. I told him that our current left back had no competition and felt it might be worth looking at. He swore me to secrecy at the time because he was after a fee and he is neither Powell's agent or Southends. However, I spoke to him on New Years day and he hinted that contact had been made between Southend and Charlton, but as Powell played on New Years eve, he didnt think that Powell was the subject........interesting eh? This is 100% legitimate. He has also asked me about Michael Kightly, currently at Grays. It seems one of his clubs may be looking at him. The only club that I know he deals with in the league is Lincoln City. Wouldnt have thought Kightly would fit in with their route 1 style.

Would be Great, And i've also heard Charlton are getting Jlloyd Samuel in the window, also a Left back.
However Chrissy Powell has been reported to have said he wouldnt like to taint his memories of Southend...

I think it may more likely be that we are looking at someone else there. I hope that we dont make the mistake of bringing an untried youngster in. That would be a bit of a lottery. The other thing though is Lawson. Werent Charlton one of those clubs reportedly interested in him? Perhaps we could swap Lawson for Jonathan Johannson!

david bellion is apparently 'unsettled' according to a few of my hammertime mates. could be a decent signign although i doubt he would go from sunderland to man utd to west ham to southend?!

yeah we wouldn't be able to afford his wages. i'd love to see powell back at southend but i can't really see it happening

Then thank the Lord you are NOT the manager!!
You can't honestly believe Lawson has been playing well recently...
He looks awkawrd on the ball, is not pacy and has nowhere near enough impact on the game coming on as a sub. I understand his age is a barrier, and strength and stamina will come with age but for him to be handed a first team contract i'd expect more from him...

I'm not debating the young lad's form... but the wisdom in swapping him for a bag of peanuts.

Now if it were Cashews...

No, I'm sorry. I just don't agree with your narrow minded opinions.

We would have to insist on a full Pound bag of Chocolate Brazils plus some salted pistaschios from Holland & Barrets "better than 1/2 price sale".

We all know Tilly tried to get Chris in to the club but he was told that he was going to QPR but then had a u-turn. Im sure Tilly will try again over the summer and if we're in the Championship, it could do our chances a great deal of good.

Don't think there's much of Barret's nuts left after yesterdays game. Therefore wouldn't be a good swap.

I don't see why we couldn't get him on loan now. Alan Curbishley is believed to be planning a clear-out this month following Charlton's poor run of form and, though I don't know for sure, my guess is that Chris will be a part of that.

Curbishley was quoted this week as saying he regrets selling Paul Konchesky, which is hardly a vote of confidence to Powell, especially if rumours that he wants to sign JLloyd Samuel are true.

Wouldn't it be just brilliant to see Powell wearing a Blues shirt at Boundary Park next Saturday?
