Online Betting

BoyWonder2

2024, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
Guys and girls,

I've been thinking of setting up an online betting account for a while now, my Uncle is big into betting as is a couple of my mates, but they all go down the bookies. A couple of my brothers have online accounts but I was wondering which is the best one to go for.

I'm mainly looking to do football accumilators etc so I'm mainly looking at it for football betting.

I know a couple of people on here work for bookies so any advise would be much appreciated.

Don't do it! Not unless you can afford to lose it anyway (sorry Bookie type people).

Try matched betting to build a fund (this is basically exploiting bookies "free bet" offers with a hedged bet on betfair), then waste it on betfair / ladbrokes etc...!

But seriously, matched betting is easy money for little effort, just take care with the bets otherwise it is gambling!

Thanks for the advice so far, has anybody else got any input into this, especially the guys that do bet online.

First bit of advice I would give is to open an account with a well established bookmaker, e.g. Ladbrokes, bet365, William Hill, Coral, SkyBet. I'll let sufcintheprem big up the exchanges :)

Second bit of advice is don't open an account unless you get a free bet. If you're having your first bet at a weekend you'll be almost guaranteed to find a good opening offer.

Shop around for prices. If Ladbrokes are 4/5 on a team and bet365 are evens, you'd be daft to take that shorter price (unless you're looking to stake seriously big amounts of money, in which case not all your bets will be accommodated, but I'm guessing you're not looking to stake five figure sums. Yet.)

Keeping track of all your bets (e.g. on an Excel sheet) is a good way of keeping tabs on how much you are betting and whether you're winning or losing.

Always worth placing your bets as lately as possible. I backed Chelsea yesterday morning, then sat down to watch the game to find out Deco had been injured. I'm not saying I wouldn't have backed Chelsea knowing that, but I might have reduced my stake.

Most importantly - good luck!

Betfair is the place to be!

However for what you are looking for I suggest signing up to:

www.online-betting-guide.co.uk

It compares prices at all the different bookies and shows you which company offers the best price for each game.

It also tells you other users tips and there is an online league so you can look at the top tipsters over different periods of time.

It is cracking. Hope that helps you and others!

The most fun you can have imo is spread betting. Wins can be big but losses can be bigger.

Personally I dont like fixed price cos the bookies have got it stitched up. With spread betting they make a market and you can use your skill and judgement to bet either side of that market.

If you buy (go long) you can be sure of what your total loss will be. However, if you sell ( go lower than the market) you can have an almost unlimited loss in some cases.

Try something like www.sportingindex.co.uk. I think they do a thing where you can try betting but you don’t win or lose any money as a sort of tester to see if you would be any good at it.

One of my favourites is total League one goal minutes. That is guaranteed to get the old heart racing.
