One to start your weekend (part IV)

Davros

The Whippet
Yes folks, that time of the week again..

This weeks brings an 80's song, which is often mistaken for a 90's song (ok, so it was released July 89 and stayed in the charts into 1990) but it hit no1 in August 1989....

funnily enough, had this Italian trio hit number 1 in the first week, they would have been the first act to debut at number 1 in there own right (this acclaim actually belongs to Whitfield for Saturday Night in 1994) however, in the good old days where songs used to climb the charts, this took a couple of weeks to get there.

Sampling Loleatta Holloways 1978 song 'Love Sensation' this is Black Box with 'Ride on Time'

same time next week folks

Feel the power of four Casio keyboards all clattering away in harmony!

I was 11 when this came out, so it hasn't reminded me of any tawdry encounters in Dukes or Zeus. Just reminds me of playing Ikari Warriors on the Atari ST, but that's no bad thing.

I was 2 when this came out. Still played all the time 18 years on. Therefore auotmatic classic!

I'm sure Dave only does this for positive rep!

classic tune.. brings back past and recent memories, a proper floor-filler

glad you people likes!

did you know Black Box were the first Italian act to have 3 top ten hits in the UK!

Looks like Ride on Time hit number one on 9th/10th Sep 1989 knocking Jive Bunny (swing the mood) from the top spot.

I would have just seen Southend win 5-0 at Aldershot what a superb away win that was (we also beat them 5-0 at home that season!)

In a twist of fate Jive Bunny (thats what I Like) knocked Black Box from the number one spot 6 weeks later.

You so need to get out more:thump:

Why is it all of your songs seem to be coming straight off of the floorsillers classic 2 cd collection? They are the only cd's we haver on at work and all the songs you've mentioned are on there - a great buy for 7 quid!

Strangley enough, after purchasing Floorfillers 1-4, Clublands 1-10, as well as Anthems from Clubland, Clubland Xtremes 1&2, Clubland Xtreme Hardcore 1-3 and pretty much everything else that has come from the AATW/Universal compilation collaberation, that is one CD i did not purchase, as having looked at the tracklist when it came out, i had pretty much every song on it, either on single or another compilation.

They're also on "Overplayed Cheesy House Anthems Vol II" which you can get at all good petrol stations (and some bad ones as well.)
