I'd be far more interested in how he performed not the fact he got on the scoresheet - especially since the goal was apparently a goalkeeping HOWLER when Kuipers dropped his header into his own net!!

Hope he played well tonight, it's about time he showed us something to suggest why he was worth such a large fee.

Didn't sound like a good goal, but they all count, the radio guys think it might not be given to him. Maher, Francis and own goal by kuipers all contenders with paynter.

Can some one get the goals on you tube pleaseeee

I wanna see hunts!

Well done us!

A goal from a centre midfielder, now thats a rare goal this season, well done lewis hunt may you get many more.

Not very well im afraid. In fact he didnt really score from where i was sitting. His header looked like going across the goal and the keeper, who was running back towards his line, seemed to juggle it in.
I'm all for giving the bloke a chance but I think a few reserve outings might do his confidence better. He just doesnt seem to offer any threat at all at the moment.

I agree it looked more like an own goal for me. But I thought his performance was pretty decent all round.

I thought it looked like an OG by the keeper from where I was - "juggle it in" was a good description.

Paynter did have a great chance (a free header) on the stroke on half time but headed straight at the keeper

Managed to film hunts goal from south upper so ill put that up tomorrow!

I'm sick to the back teeth of the people around me slagging Paynter at every oppurtunity. There are balls lumped 20 yards ahead of him which the keeper has near enough got his hands on and people get on his back for not chasing them.

I think people need to get a grasp on what type of player Billy is. He links the midfield to the attack extremely well which is something i thought we lacked last season. He's not your 20 goal a season man, but he is a class player.

Surely thats exactly the role that Eastwood plays? Playing from deep, linking the midfield and the attack.

I thought he played alright actually its just the players dont seem to know what hes about yet. His movement was actually very good tonight!

And how is dropping a guy to the reserves gonna help his confidence?!

Take him out of the spotlight for a bit. There are quite a few fans slagging him off which cant help. Get some playing time with the reserves, a couple of goals and who knows.

Erm?  Now that's taking things a bit far isn't it, blaming the rest of the team?  Come on Mark, be serious.  Paynters not that special that the rest of the team aren't good enough for him, so we can't give it the old "Mike Marsh" explanation of "well he's too good".  He's been with us for 6 weeks now, training all but a couple of days in that time.

We knew this season was going to be tough & I'm concerned that this far into the season we've got a player then that you think hasn't gelled.  We needed to hit the ground running with all 11 players punching their full weight.  Paynter's style is to hold the ball & slow the game down, the rest of the team are a free flowing passing bunch.

The goal was right in front of me and from my South Upper view Kuipers juggled it as one of his defenders was about to take a swing at the ball and definitely threw it in his own net.

As for Paynter.  I don't think that for him he had a bad game, as I seriously don't think he's got much more to give than we saw tonight.   But I as I don't think he's what we need as a partner for Fredy I don't really see that as too much of a plus.

Also could someone talk me through the free header at the end of the 1st half.  Again, just my personal opinion, I'd expect a £200k championship striker to have buried that.

I'm sure Paynter gave his all, ran his Tilly socks off & probably played nearly at his limit.  So credit to him for that.

Dont get me wrong here im not blaming the players. I just think theres something going wrong somewhere. Billy was looking for the ball over the top on a couple of occasions tonight but the players wernt seeing his movement. Then one time he ran towards Maher to take a short ball to feet and Captain Kev done his trademark 'chip the ball lon into an open space'.

I understand your point and do agree we need to hit the ground running and all eleven players need to be on top of their game. In time I think he will come good but its down to Mr. Tilson and how long he will keep faith with him?

I also agree that the partnership with freddy just doesnt seem to click. Freddy needs a big guy to play with upfront, someone to attract the defenders away from him to give him some space. Like Goater last season, Bradbury when hes up there and hopefully Matt Harrold can take on this role!

As for the free header - shocking!

Maybe hes not a 200k striker and weve paid over the odds for him? Not his fault though that would be people higher up in the Club.

Why do people constantly get on his back, yet when Freddy does the same thing 5 minutes later, no-one says a word. That really did **** me off tonight, as TFS, Steve and Ian will vouch for. Some of the tw&ts in the South Upper really need to wake up and watch the game. Freddy also missed a sitter of a header which he managed to bouch over the bar and OFF target! He also missed a sitter 2 minutes before Paynter's header yet no-one says a thing and he even gets a clap and a cheer.

Go figure!
