Yes, I believe you can - don't see any reason why we should be prevented from doing this and we're hardly going to sell out our allocation! :p

Lowestoft called on Monday to get us tickets and the girl said that on Monday only 88 had been sold and that tickets were available on the day but i still did not want to risk travelling all that way with out a ticket in my back pocket

Indeed, just the Club always urge us to buy tickets - when clearly we don't need too!

Buying in advance can help with unnecessary delays at the turnstyles,

but like you said we dont need to as those jo average games like this one dont turn people on so they wont go - so no realy need to buy early

Perhaps they like to only sell in advance so the OB get a good idea of how many travelling fans are heading up the M1/M6

They probably like selling tickets in advance so they can earn interest on the ticket sales. I seem to recall us getting in trouble a couple of seasons ago because we were slow paying over ticket proceeds to Col Ewe.

Edit: less of an incentive doing this when its only 80 tickets for Oldham, but when its 1000 tickets @ £25 it can ease cashflow.

Clubs want you to buy tickets in advance because they get a certain percentage of the ticket price, if bought in advance.

Mind you, I am not going all the way up there and it not being pay-on-the day

You can buy on the day confirmed on OS under the Port Vale ticketing info

Bought our tickets yesterday and they had sold just under 200 which I thought was good :D considering it is pig of a place to get to

If we're anything to go by it's simply a case of there being no need at all to pre-purchase tickets.
