Not sure if this has been done before, but the talk about Christian Dailly got me thinking - how about an oldest XI to turn out for the Blues, go by their age the LAST time they played for us.

Your turn.

Good stuff chaps! A quick check on soccerbase shows Freedman was older than Goater the last time he played for the Blues, so he gets the nod.

Can't think of anyone older than Duncan Jupp and Mark Stimson at full-back. Don't think Stimson was as old as his lack of hair and pace suggested.

How old was Buzz Newman?

Just for now I'm putting Ronnie Whelan into CM, but he's a bit of a young whippersnapper for this side.

Great shout for Newman, he was 38! Will check on Juppy & Stimson.

EDIT: Jupp was 31 and Stimson 30.

Ok, so just a RM and surely there must be a CM older than Whelan?

Gooding must have been 39 not 40, as Furlong holds the record for oldest SUFC player at 39 & 267 days, so we'll make him captain.

I think The Viking was in his 30s when he last played for us, he could slot in in any number of places.

Clark would have been 32 when he left us but played on for another 5 years after that, so he'll do for now.

I've looked at the managers and Webby was 55 at the end of his last full time stint in 2001. Although he was 57 when he was caretaker before Tilly came in, in 2003. Paul Sturrock is currently 55 but younger than Webb was in 2001, so there's a fair chance Luggy will become our oldest full-time manager ever one day.

Barry Silkman was older than two of the three "midfield" players chosen. Not better, just older.

I think Kevin Betsy was around 32 or 33 as well, so no improvement on what you have. I must admit to being surprised at the age of some....I thought we had John Burridge in the twilight of his career but instead discovered that he was only 27ish, so for a 'keeper, quite young!

Older is the criteria!

Just had a look, can't tell if he was 33 or 34 when he played his last game (dob. 29.6.1952), but 33 is older than Paul Clark. So it's bye, bye Clarky.
