Southend 2 - 1 Bristol Rovers (French, Stubbs)
FA Cup 4th Round
02/02/1952
Att: 22,429

This was after we beat Bournemouth 6-1, Oldham 5-0 and Southampton 3-0 in the earlier rounds!

We lost in the 5th round 2-1 to Sheff Utd.

Yes great footage of the cup tie that show's how the game has changed.
The other clip of the market was also interesting and noted we were only 60k in the red at that stage........

Those kind of videos always remind me of Harry Enfield. The most striking thing me is that the players don't react when they're clattered, not even the goalkeepers when someone barges into them for no reason 10 seconds after they've collected the ball. They just get on with it.

Thats because shoulder barging the keeper when he had two feet on the ground and both hands on the ball was perfectly legal, that was just in the goal area, elsewhere the same laws applied to the keeper as outfield players.

Many Forwards had perfected the timing so that they "arrived" at the second the keeper had landed from catching a cross and both feet had touched down (check out the 1957 cup final)
