Oh When The Blues, an Oldham perspective on Sunday's match

The collective sentiment on there is Oldham will just roll us over. Let's hope their players go in thinking the same

Not sure that is how I read the sentiment.

There is confidence, there is positivity, and there is a belief that IF we can play at our best it will be enough to win.

However, there is also an acknowledgement that this will be a close game, and that its hard to call.

I think we felt favourites in the QF, underdogs in the SF, and perhaps slight favourites for this.

That sentiment is probably similar to yourselves. Close game, but you back your own team to edge it IF that can play to the best of their ability.

Strangely, looking at the table at the end of the season, most Latics fans would have preferred to be playing FGR rather than you on Sunday. Form. confidence, that over used word 'momentum' are all with you just as much as ourselves.

It's funny our defense was good before the Gateshead game, then for Gateshead it was 👌 but in the play offs it's been poor, that worrys me.
Oldham are one powerful team and if I support them I would be confident, but it's a play- off and anything can happen, like I've said on another thread I just don't care, I have my club back and whatever the outcome so be it.

I feel if both teams play at their best we edge it. More flowing and desire.
If both aren't quite on it, it's a coin toss.
If it gets a bit chess like and wiley, I think their experienced players edge it.
Ill take the first two options and hope.

One fan sums up the Oldham perspective:

Whilst I don't think the match will be truly as one-sided as either of the previous two, I'm expecting another professional, clinical performance from a team with the bit between their teeth.

The only thing that would derail us is falling behind to a sloppy goal, leaving us to chase the match. They're no mugs, but they're three or four players short of making them a force in our division. Lots to exploit and if we get one up early enough, I'd back us running out comfortable two or three goal winners.

Yes Oldham are the favourites to win according to the bookies and neutral observers and you can see why. But they aren't taking into account our never-say-die attitude. We can surprise them..... and I fervently hope that we will.

The thing that gives me faith in this one is we don't know when we are beat, could of gone out of business - survived, could of done naff all this season - made playoffs, 3-1 down v Rochdale - win, go a goal up at FGR, concede, concede a again, equalise, miss Pen, win.

Everything on paper says we shouldn't do it, Oldham have steam rollered Halifax and York - but I can't help but feel we will do it.
