Now what more news can we get this summer . No Egan no sokolik no J J .No new contract .Oh and yes no stadium not looking to good is it folks .No something is not right but as yet I feel its got to come to a head .I am sorry but I dont by into this story that we have the squad already it just needs a little extra hear and there .But I see no movement towards it as yet .And I have this strange feeling we have been hear before .

It would seem that we have taken a couple of steps foward and could have been auto promotion candidates but instead it would appear that behind the scenes Ronald is up to his old tricks.

The thing is I don't think Phil Brown will suffer much of Ronalds false promises.

If we can't sign players then we will be handicapped.

Blimey! Club miss out on 3 players that were too expensive for us! Shock Horror! We are a L2 team! Worth baring in mind in future.

Also, bringing up the lack of stadium news is a massive waste of time. We have been waiting for news since the 80's! Futile bringing it up now.

Alternatively we've not lost any of our young talent yet; we've signed Myles Weston from Gillingham; a bunch of our players have extended their contracts; Lee Barnard has returned and may do well with a full pre-season under his belt.

Also, no embargo as far we know, fairly good season ticket sales, and some pleasant summer evenings at local non-league grounds coming up at which we get to meet up with mates we haven't seen for 6 weeks or so.

Same facts, different outlook on life I guess.

Sokolik we just missed ou t on you say. Look at my comment in one of my other threads. He was never signing for us. He had a meeting here out of courtesy for us helping him being put in the shop window. It is spin as it was put by friends in rather good places. to make out we were capable of signing the better places. Once more, No o'toole , no Tomlin. Brown and his contract gone a tad of track, Insure and go pull out, No replacement for them as yet. Tour money spent. Doesn't stack up well does it.Money seems scarce already doesn't it coinciding with those tour funds. I hope we don't need to shell out cash during the season. Been spent on wrong priorities but people backing tour will moan if w don't have money , if, shall we saya few loan players are required then they'll be moans of why did we prioritise spending on a trip that doesn't guarantee anything. team spirit? Most of the squad is the same from last year. And brown now saying, we won't be rushed into new signings. Famous words ushered to Tilson via briefings from those above him when the real truth was financial problems . No this text is not from Papers or from my own mind but from friends who are well placed.

No I didn't say that at all funnily enough, you added the word 'just' yourself.. He was the only one we had a realistic chance of getting and he chose to go to a higher league club and nothing to do with how much money we spent on pre-season training.

How failing to sign him is any way positive spin I have absolutely no idea, all it proves is we couldn't sign him, that's negative PR.

AS for the rest of your post, you list Otoole, an expensive player in a position we have plenty of players in, Tomlin another one who signed for a league one side.

As for your well placed friends we never had wage issues beginning of the season when you kept hinting at and aren't ground sharing with Dagenham either, so as I said before Ill take your inside info with a pinch of salt.

We were always going to miss out on the loanees, but I'm sure Brown and his team can find four equally if not better loanees for us. O'Toole seems to potentially be more trouble and money than he may be worth which for a player in our strongest position is a no brainier for us to bat sensibly.

Brown and his staff did a lot of key work throughout the last campaign by getting the core of our team to extend their contracts, this included key players such as Hurst, Coker, Bentley and Leonard. This summer he retained the players he wanted to including Smith which seems to be a good fit for all parties especially our young and impressive current no.1.

So that means we saw players depart all through the managers choice - I'm sure that embargo or no embargo that we can have 19 players (IIRC). When you consider we have released Laird, Bennett, Straker, Reid, Auger, Chambers, Phillips, Gomis and Freddy that's a lot of spaces and big wages that the gaffer has to play with. As pre season progresses the bigger sides and their squads take shape which is when PB, Penney and his scout come alive.

we have the core of a very good team which was our strength last season. I'm. Sure we all agree that this team who gave their absolute all every match and the good news is that the team is still together with the dead wood released, Brown won't panic and will build a better squad than last year. Our only signing to date is a coup and a non league hungry forward could be what we also need. Another factor is a fit and rejuvenated Lee Barnard, he will still score goals....watch this space.

Indeed, look at the players Brown brought in last year, we had 3 quality centre halves in on loan. He has also brought in very good players on permanent deals too

We seem to have a good set up for finding decent players, lets not panic just because we didnt sign two we knew were going to be a stretch to sign in the first place.

How dare he when we have only the bare bones of a team and languishing in the bottom half of the table where we have been since mid may etc etc etc..............:smile:
