Who exactly is "one of them"? Grow up, FFS! Not being a racist is everyone's responsibility, not just because a mod pulls someone up on something!

The word "Yid" in the context of Spurs is tricky. I know of at least one Jewish SZ member who finds it offensive; equally, I have read an article in the European Jewish Press which considers the word, solely in its Spurs context, not to be offensive.

I therefore don't have an easy answer as to whether or not to ban use of the word, because it's not (if you'll pardon the pun) a black and white issue. At the moment, therefore, whilst I would prefer people not to use the phrase, I'm not going to prevent them from doing so.

Any other racism, however, will not be tolerated in the least, and the poster will be banned from SZ in a trice.

You'll have to ask smiffy. I don't know - I'm not accusing you of being one.

I suspect that he was referring to the use of "Yid" in the context of Spurs which is not a clear-cut issue, even amongst the Jewish community, as to whether or not it's racist.

As I said, it would be preferable if the word were not used, but I'll put it no more strongly than that.
