OD - Week 8

MrB

Life President
ShrimperZone CC v Peruvian Farmers

Spent the train journey in mulling over the benefits of a GFI (BT20 next week) and throwing the game (fitness is a mess and we have a more winnable game next week plus a massive FC match the following week).

Got tied up with something this morning so ended up doing neither. We have nobody at sublime and only one energetic (yes it's that bad!) so I'm expecting a heavy sack beating.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI

SZ derby today, with YB out for revenge for his opening day defeat. Mutual TIE, and looking at the sides we both need it, although he definitley has the edge. Took out his cannon fodder early on, pretty even since.

We can tell you that Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this sunny day.

End of Over 12: 51-1, runrate=4.25
Lindop 1-0-2-0
Pembridge* 18 (31 balls)
Holt 27 (36 balls)

Last Wicket: Griffith c & b. Singh 4 (FOW: 5/1)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIBS DIPPERS v The only way is Up

Mrs BB now tops her division, and takes on the 3rd placed side today. She's only got 1 at Energetic, and everyone else at Sublime, so she's at full-strength on a GFI.

We can tell you that The only way is Up won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

End of Over 12: 65-0, runrate=5.42
Moketsie 2-0-10-0
Stride* 32 (32 balls)
Potter 33 (40 balls)

It's sunny so any wickets welcome, Tits McGee gets the first breakthrough. A lot of batting to come though including that **** Foran who always seems to score loads against me.

End of Over 13: 59-1, runrate=4.54
Mcgee 7-0-27-1
Rutherford* 31 (37 balls)
Mackintosh 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Drury b. Mcgee 28 (FOW: 59/1)

Home to Brianstoke Batters, who still have no players and bottom on 0 points.

End of Over 15: 25-10, runrate=1.67
Last 0-0-0-1
Mule* 0 (0 balls)

Nice and easy on TIE.

I'm playing the team closest to me in my division where I feel we are competing for 5th and 6th place, although interestingly one of the other teams may not be quite as good as I'd feared so there is a possibility of a 4th place finish and avoiding the need for the play-offs.

It's a slow pitch and I think i'd fancy defending anything around 260 as their best batsmen are "fresh" at best, whereby my bowlers are at least energetic.

End of Over 22: 119-2, runrate=5.41
Lake 6-0-25-0
Hulse* 68 (55 balls)
Arber 13 (18 balls)

Last Wicket: Tekere c. Northrop b. Hazell 7 (FOW: 94/2)

Even-stevens in the SZ derby...

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI

Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Cracked

End of Over 28: 117-2, runrate=4.18
Frazer 4-0-11-1
Pembridge* 48 (69 balls)
Montgomery 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Holt b. Frazer 62 (FOW: 117/2)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB going well.

DIBS DIPPERS v The only way is Up

The only way is Up won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 28: 122-1, runrate=4.36
Moketsie 6-0-20-1
Mackin* 1 (3 balls)
Stride 57 (82 balls)

Last Wicket: Potter st. Poole b. Moketsie 64 (FOW: 121/1)

Was never likely to bowl them out so it's all about keeping things tight. Would be nice to keep it under 250 if possible to give ourselves a chance. Oh and someone shoot Foran.

End of Over 30: 121-2, runrate=4.03
Graham 5-0-20-0
Foran* 12 (29 balls)
Mackintosh 38 (51 balls)

Last Wicket: Rutherford b. Marriott 42 (FOW: 86/2)

Chose to bowl first on a slow pitch on a partially cloudy and humid day.

End of Over 30: 130-4, runrate=4.33
Gichki 10-1-26-2
Radcliffe* 19 (41 balls)
Tulsidas 0 (1 balls)
Last Wicket: Duffy c. Wright b. Gichki 7 (FOW: 130/4)

End of Over 30: 153-4, runrate=5.10
Dancy 3-0-7-1
Sookram* 26 (30 balls)
Cook 2 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Raven b. Dancy 4 (FOW: 147/4)

Started off brilliantly with Deane (65) and Waterhouse (45) having a good opening partnership but lost these 2, along with Browne and Raven, in quick succession.

Im GFI'ing with 20/20 around the corner and its a sunny day on a seaming track so im gunna need 250 odd me thinks. These lot ended up beating EGV last week, so im still only 4 points behind with the top 2 of 20, the next 2 on 16, the next two 12 and the bottom two on 8.

Kev

Woo hoo!!

33.1 W Benjamin to Foran
Nicely flighted ball pitches on middle and off stump, spins across Foran who tries to sweep but misses the ball and is bowled behind his legs.

Hmmm, 26 runs from 2 overs has changed the complexion slightly.

End of Over 36: 164-3, runrate=4.56
Benjamin 8-0-42-1
Mackintosh* 61 (70 balls)
Farman 11 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Foran b. Benjamin 19 (FOW: 133/3)

great stingy bowling performance from us- Yeates in particular benefitting from being rested this week.

End of Over 44: 137-4, runrate=3.11
Yeates 7-2-13-2
Elliott* 8 (10 balls)
Bate 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Watt b. Yeates 17 (FOW: 137/4)

Impressive batting performance from a patched up batting line up. My bowling attack should have no problems defending this (famous last words).

End of Over 50: 314-5, runrate=6.28
Evans 10-1-68-2
Salmon* 18 (17 balls)
Chatterton 72 (58 balls)

Last Wicket: Eyles c. Alcock b. Evans 6 (FOW: 263/5)

I would have taken anything less than 250 at the start, so can't complain too much. Anyone's game, although I fancy YB's runs on the board...

Edit - Especially as Polly's horrendous run of form has continued.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI

Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Cracked

End of Over 1: 3-1, runrate=3.00, reqrunrate=4.80 (237-10)
Daniels 1-0-3-1
Evelyn* 1 (3 balls)
Nagendranath 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Pollock lbw b. Daniels 2 (FOW: 3/1)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB should win her game...

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 50: 273-4, runrate=5.46
Babb 10-0-62-0
Eagles* 4 (4 balls)
Hutton 90 (70 balls)

Last Wicket: Morgan c. Poole b. Wicks 55 (FOW: 255/4)

Still anyone's game at the moment...

Askari 4-0-15-0
Nagendranath* 46 (48 balls)
Downing 29 (44 balls)

Last Wicket: Evelyn c. Griffith b. Varney 10 (FOW: 17/2)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st over of spin for Mrs BB gets the breakthrough.

DIBS DIPPERS v The only way is Up

The only way is Up won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 15: 86-1, runrate=5.73, reqrunrate=5.37 (273-4)
Kealey 1-0-6-1
Udana* 35 (47 balls)
Beevers 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Poole c. Stride b. Kealey 47 (FOW: 86/1)

Got clattered in the final 10 so the target is 25 higher than I think we're capable of. Run rate ok but three wickets down is an issue. Got my two fittest players at the crease now so they'll have to put a shift in if we're going to get near this total.

End of Over 22: 107-3, runrate=4.86, reqrunrate=6.04 (275-3)
Swan 6-0-34-2
Cunningham* 55 (67 balls)
Sandile 24 (33 balls)

Last Wicket: Mcleod c & b. Cameron 5 (FOW: 50/3)

Gonna be a close one....

Mcintosh 6-0-35-0
Nagendranath* 57 (66 balls)
Downing 46 (69 balls)

Last Wicket: Evelyn c. Griffith b. Varney 10 (FOW: 17/2)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB on course for a victory.

Kealey 5-1-17-4
Moketsie* 3 (11 balls)
Udana 45 (69 balls)

Last Wicket: Goddard b. Kealey 0 (FOW: 99/5)

100 partnership up, that's the shift I was looking for. Hopefully these two can keep on trucking for a while.

End of Over 30: 154-3, runrate=5.13, reqrunrate=6.10 (275-3)
Swan 10-0-57-2
Cunningham* 77 (93 balls)
