OD - Week 2

MrB

Life President
ShrimperZone CC v In The Googlies

This week's oppenents have 2 6 figure players and are an all round better team than the team that beat us last week. I wanted to bat first but forgot to set orders so will hope he wins the toss. Technically I should get bowled out for less than 55 and get thrashed if last week is anything to go by however we shall see.

home to Used Rugs who boast a former England U19 all rounder in their ranks and not too much else. Won one and lost one last season.

away to Spitfire. similar in strength, need to win to have any chance of winning the division. lost previous 2 games by matter of 6 or 7 runs.

Welcome to spitfire CG for the match between spitfire and Napster's XI.

We can tell you that Napster's XI won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a touch on the green side. All the seam bowlers have been out there rubbing their hands on this partially cloudy and humid day.

Lets join our team for ball-by-ball commentary.

0.1 . Allan to Basson
Allan is on the money, but so is Basson...blocking it firmly back to the bowler.

an excellent start

End of Over 1: 6-1, runrate=6.00
Allan 1-0-2-1
Strydom* 0 (0 balls)
Adams 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Basson b. Allan 2 (FOW: 6/1)

0.6 . Allan to Adams
It's lucky he ducked out of the single when he did, because he barely made it back. The replay showed he was home by an inch.
0.5 W Allan to Basson
An inswinger deceives Basson all ends up and rips out his middle stump.

Not bad

End of Over 9: 42-3, runrate=4.67
Allan 5-1-22-2
Durrant* 8 (8 balls)
Adams 15 (25 balls)

Last Wicket: Manzini c. Whittingham b. Allan 0 (FOW: 17/3)

Hmmm, we obviously bat better on cracked pitches! Safely negotiated the 100k bowler, hopefully can make some hay now. Lamo and Richie keeping good pace with each other!

End of Over 11: 67-0, runrate=6.09
Jenny 1-0-14-0
Lamey* 33 (32 balls)
Cunningham 34 (34 balls)

Very nice. End of Over 15: 63-3, runrate=4.20
Whittingham 3-0-14-0
Durrant* 19 (30 balls)
Adams 23 (39 balls)

Last Wicket: Manzini c. Whittingham b. Allan 0 (FOW: 17/3)

Chit start.

End of Over 19: 73-2, runrate=3.84
Johnson 3-0-10-0
Falken* 39 (54 balls)
Dhanda 17 (42 balls)

Last Wicket: Cable c. Browne b. Cook 8 (FOW: 23/2)

I is confused. I'd understand if they'd rested players but their bowling attack consists of a 120k, a 70k and 2 40k players. Could have used some of these runs last week! Lamo also outscoring Richie, high concentration definitely helps on cracked tops.

End of Over 25: 171-0, runrate=6.84
Gould 3-0-18-0
Lamey* 92 (77 balls)
Cunningham 78 (73 balls)

bowlers doing well considering they play a HnF pitch..

End of Over 31: 122-4, runrate=3.94
Green 6-1-21-2
Courts* 28 (60 balls)
Miah 2 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Keegan b. Green 49 (FOW: 120/4)

There WK has just come in to bat. He has a BTR of 99k, but only averages 20 with the paddle, so im guessing he's never had much batting nets! (must be a wicked WK tho!)

End of Over 35: Beyond Heresy 152-3, runrate=4.34
Clark 6-2-16-1
Spencer* 3 (1 balls)
Swayne 84 (94 balls)

Last Wicket: Birkett c. Hughes b. Clark 6 (FOW: 149/3)

Struggled to get the run rate going after they deployed their best 2 bowlers as openers (140k BTR one of them)

2 Clark to Swayne
Too full and straight, clipped away firmly through vacant forward square leg, easy two taken as long leg comes around to field in the deep.
And that's a century for Swayne! Well played indeed Sir!

6th OD century

Allan and Moore come in and knock out the middle of the team!

End of Over 42: 186-7, runrate=4.43
Moore 6-1-23-2
Abel* 7 (4 balls)
Steyn 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Kadir c. Prag b. Moore 0 (FOW: 186/7)

41.6 W Moore to Kadir
Charges the delivery, struck in the air but not very far, Prag takes the catch at mid wicket a few metres inside the circle.
41.5 W Moore to Dhaliwal
Wicket ball. That's through the defences and Moore has his man.
41.4 1 Moore to Abel
Good length ball played down to Dyke at mid wicket and Abel hurries for a single. In comes the throw and they've just managed to reach safety. That Abel is a hare between the wickets!
41.3 1 Moore to Dhaliwal
Clipped off the pads to square leg.
41.2 1 Moore to Abel
On the toes, played down to mid wicket as the fielder runs in from the boundary.
41.1 4 Moore to Abel
A cracker out of the top drawer from Abel, short and rising outside off stump, sits up just a bit off the deck and it's ferociously pulled down through wide mid wicket.

End of Over 41: 179-5, runrate=4.37
Allan 6-1-28-4
Abel* 1 (1 balls)
Dhaliwal 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Durrant c & b. Allan 72 (FOW: 179/5)

40.6 . Allan to Dhaliwal
The batsman has left that well alone. I'm surprised the umpire hasn't called that wide.
40.5 W Allan to Durrant
If catches win matches, that effort has to win him something more. I don't think I've seen a better return catch.
40.4 1 Allan to Abel
Gently flicked around to the on side, mid wicket fielding.
40.3 W Allan to Adams
Big inswinger and a massive inside edge. But he's given him! Adams can't believe it, what a bad call from the umpire.

3 wickets in 4 balls and its all over for them. Allan takes a remarkable 7 wickets

End of Over 43: 187-10, runrate=4.35
Allan 6-1-29-7
Steyn* 0 (0 balls)

42.4 W Allan to Bristow
That's a great shot by Bristow, but unfortunately it is matched by a great catch from Philip and he's out!
42.3 W Allan to Barrett
Barrett went for the pull shot, but got the top edge. Both the keeper and the fielder went for it but it ended up in Back's gloves.
42.3 wd Allan to Barrett
That's so wide it was stopped at second slip! Allan obviously spent too much time bowling to his fielders whilst warming up.
42.2 W Allan to Abel
Allan floors Abel with a classic sucker punch, tossing up a nibbler just outside off stump and the batsman feathering a drive to Back behind the stumps.

End of Over 44: 182-10, runrate=4.14
Clark 9-2-32-6
Daniel* 2 (4 balls)

7 wickets in 3 and a half overs finish me off.

End of Over 20: 68-2, runrate=3.40, reqrunrate=3.83 (182-10)
Lazarus 5-1-12-1
Hutchinson* 1 (2 balls)
Wilkshire 38 (43 balls)

Last Wicket: Browne c. Cronin b. Lazarus 14 (FOW: 65/2)

Two best bat at the crease (Hutchison 145k all-rounder ex-Eng U19)

Done well to limit the scoring so far though, only 3 boundaries in 20 overs.

Bugger

End of Over 22: 77-4, runrate=3.50, reqrunrate=3.96 (187-10)
Steyn 1-0-5-0
Back* 29 (45 balls)
Sutherland 25 (65 balls)

Last Wicket: Allan c. Durrant b. Dhaliwal 4 (FOW: 13/4)

End of Over 48: 243-10, runrate=5.06
Julian 8-1-39-5
Rendall* 23 (24 balls)

Made a disappointing score. This included a hattrick in the 34th over (at 173-1!) of all places, which included Davenport and Granville. Won't get luck that bad again all season surely.

End of Over 29: 131-2, runrate=4.52, reqrunrate=5.38 (243-10)
Deakin 8-0-38-1
Mirfin* 25 (42 balls)
Rowe 45 (56 balls)
Last Wicket: Eade b. Deakin 48 (FOW: 68/2)

The game is edging away from us.
