Why do we need a coach when we have Terry Mason who is widely acknowledged to do a great job.

Appreciate Smiths efforts but glad to have him off the wage bill personally.

Because Terry Mason only works part time with Southend as he has other commitments. During the time TM isn't around, Paul Smith, takes over the coaching.

We've still got 2 good young keepers at the club. Maybe we can sign a player who is versatile enough to play in goal and also up front in place of Corr and several other positions too. One that is out of contract with another club.
Anyone heard what Bilel Mohsni is up to these days... ????

Maybe he is going full time now then?

That would seem logical. However, he had various other commitments from what I remember so it might not be that straight forward.

One of his other commitments is his own goalkeeping academy. I doubt he would give that up in a hurry.

Look at the testimonials. He seems to have his fingers in many pies.

Any chance TM could stay part time and we get in a strikers coach, even if part time, so that someone at the club has some idea about forwards as PB said he hadnt a clue about strikers

Looking at his site can't see any sessions since the 13/14 season. He's done really well at Southend if only part time. All the best Paul Smith

So far this thread seems to assume we'll still have Dan next year. If he goes (which lets face it is very possible) we'll be down to young Ted.

Mind you that's the close season for you I suppose. Players coming & going etc etc.

I think its poor form from SUFC that his name was announced that he was being released , without anyone from the club actually speaking to him .... it wouldnt have taken much for a quick phone call.

There seems to be a problem at the club with this. Maybe the manager should go on holiday 2 weeks after the very last game, so that he can sort out contracts. It's also like leaving an open goal as other clubs can come in and nick players out of contract, that we actually want to keep.
Perhaps this should be mentioned at that Steve Kavanagh get together.

Southend United manager Phil Brown: Paul Smith could still have a future at the club

SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown insists goalkeeper Paul Smith could still have a future at the club.

Thanks for that goalkeeping performance at Brentford Paul, by far the best keeping experience I've ever witnessed in any live game I've seen. Thanks too for your work helping young Dan & Ted. All the best for the future xox

I agree with all of that.Just a shame it wasn't at home so more fans got to see it. It may have changed the opinion of some.
