Wow, thought discussions were going on for him to be offered a player/coaching role?

It's rumoured he was on big wages, perhaps our idea of a player coach wage was too much of a drop for him.

God I wish I couldve been at Brentford to see that performance. Thanks Paul for getting us to the JPT final. (Well, kind of)

Why do we need a coach when we have Terry Mason who is widely acknowledged to do a great job.

Appreciate Smiths efforts but glad to have him off the wage bill personally.

Again another player who has been a model professional for the club.

Thanks for everything - including helping Dan and Ted develop.

I hope he has another job to go to.

Hmm.. can only assume what was offered too big a drop from a players salary to a coaches salary or that he wants to continue his playing career elsewhere.

Terry Mason is only part time as I understand it and Paul Smith has been a key figure in both Dan and Ted's development, taking their training sessions when TM has not been there. Hopefully this means TM is becoming a full time member of the coaching staff.

Good, frees up his wage too, we don't need 3 keepers, Bentley & Ted Smith are fine & emergency loan will be used if one of these is injured, thanks Paul Smith, bye!

Thanks for that goalkeeping performance at Brentford Paul, by far the best keeping experience I've ever witnessed in any live game I've seen. Thanks too for your work helping young Dan & Ted. All the best for the future xox

As others have said, no need for him as a player and probably cheaper to make Terry Mason full-time than bring on another coach on wages Paul would be expecting

I still don't think Ted is anywhere near ready. He's still very lightweight and gets dominated by heavy or clever forwards, having watched him in training. One for the future, but nowhere near good enough for League One.
