Now for Barnsley

CC51DAS

President
There are a number of comments about this on various threads but as this match is now of such extreme importance , thought it would be worth starting a new thread where we can share our hopes and feelings .

I said elsewhere that we should not under-estimate Barnsley - a bit of a bogey team to us and they have some , by all accounts, tricky new signings we haven't seen yet. They will be over the moon with their win over Brum , and having played their 'hardest' fixtures will see next Sat as a chance to put daylight between them and us .

We shall need to be at our very , very best and one thing's for sure - if we have a setback the crowd MUST get behind the team . Anyone who said our players don't care should have seen their faces yesterday after Macca and King Kev's wondergoals .

ITS GOING TO BE MASSIVE !!

It really is everyone's responsibility to drink a lot before the game and shout a lot.

That can be arranged :hilarious:

I'm going to be extremely cheesed off if the crowd don't get behind the team on Saturday. This is one of the biggest games of the season. In fact, every game between now and the end of the season is like a cup final to us, it's that crucial

We were all extremely critical after the game on Friday, and rightly so, but now is the time to get behind the team and give them the encouragement they need (and the club needs) to keep us in this league for next season.

As we're the crowd we need to make sure this doesn't happen. Think i might pay the stewards to throw out anyone who starts getting on the players backs.
Then again maybe I'll apply to be a steward and do it anyway, does anyone know where I can buy an orange coat?

I'm in the west stand and its amazingly the first time ever for me, I've heard rumours it isn't as vocal as the south and east stands, can anyone shed any light upon this?

i've sat in the West Stand since they first put seats in it.

The atmosphere is so difficult to gauge at RH becasue all the stands are individual but the "boys" at the back of the West Stand do try and get an atmosphere going, when we're wining it can be great and (if you're at the north bank end) you can get involved in some nice away fan baiting!

Although some of the individuals (especially where i sit) can be a right royal pain in the ****, so much so my brother nearly got in a fight with one of them....and this guy was about twice his age!

I went in there for the 1st time ever v Southampton and I actually really enjoyed the atmosphere. I started to find the South Upper quite frustrating as the yellows would sing a different song to the blue seats at the same time! There's probably not as much vocality from the West but I find you only really get that on certain away-days (like yesterday & Sheff Weds) these days anyway!

Thank you for such swift responses. I must admit I've enjoyed the away games a lot more this season particularly Ipswich and to a lesser extent Stoke.

I always enjoy the away days more, the atmosphere can be brilliant away from home!

I've only really started going away this season and am by no means a regular. Myself and a few lads made a weekend of it at Derby and Stoke and despite not winning either match they were blooming good weekends.

The South Upper quite often sing 3 different songs at the same time!!
If they actually all sung the same song, at the same time, the rest of the ground might hear them!!

I wonder how many Barnsley are going to bring? For the Luton game we have given them 1,400 tickets, I think we will have the NW corner open for home fans for that match.

I used to sit in the South and now sit in the West. The South seemed to be louder than the West when I was there, but now the West seems louder and I can hardly hear the South.
It probably means both are as loud as each other but the accoustics of the ground means we hardly hear each other.
Also the fact that everyone is singing different songs is also a factor, however very hard to coordinate 2 stands to sing.
Unfortunately the loudest stand has always been the north - a place I sadly miss

Get those musical instruments out - especially any drums. There is nothing like a drum for co-ordinating the chanting!

Couldnt agree more. A drummer always seems to get everyone going e.g. away at Sheffield Wednesday. West stand can get going really well especially when we're winning. Block V & W being the main ones for singing. To be honest I can hardly hear the South stand from where i sit in the west but, yes, the acoustics are really poor and most people in the South probably think the same about us.

I agree. Block X is normally quite vocal but they spend the majority of their time baiting the other fans rather than getting behind our team which would be a lot more useful! :thump:

Just found out I've been put in Block X for Friday so no doubt I'll end up joining in as well though :finger:

A brief stat attack... this Saturday's game is a clash between the team with the most porous away defence (48 goals in 21 away games... yikes!) versus the team with the one of the least potent home attack - and the worst home goal difference.

:(

Our home stats this season are actually pretty shocking. We have a goal difference of -5 (and it would be -10 were it not for the QPR game!), we've only scored 27 goals in 22 home games, and we've conceded 32 goals at home - the second worst in the league.

Worst of all, our points per home game (1.14) is the lowest in the league... 24 points in only 21 games.

It's pretty simple, really. We have got to win on Saturday... and it's up to every single one of us to roar our support for 90 minutes.

Matt
