November Fixtures

BluesMike61

Youth Team
I've just looked at the upcoming fixtures on the OS and see that in November ,as things stand,we have just one confirmed home fixture (MK Dons--Friday 20th.),plus only 2 distant away ties (Yeovil--Saturday 14th and Tranmere--Tuesday 24th).

Let's hope that we get a home tie in the FA Cup R1 to be played on Saturday 7th.otherwise we will not have a Saturday home match in the whole of November!

I fear a lot of early Xmas shopping!!

I am really getting sick of these Friday night games.

Bloody nightmare to keep making excuses to duck out of work, minimal time to get a drink in before the game by the time I get to Southend (7pm) and miss out on a Friday night drinking with the lads.

Really hope we go back to Saturdays a lot more as its driving me up the wall at the moment.

I'm the opposite - I wish every game was a Friday night. As sunday mornings are taken up with managing SZFC1, i am often reminded that when Southend are at home on a Saturday I spend more time at football than I do with the missus the kids on the weekend - this time will be even more reduced as I start my training for the London marathon! So Friday night football all the way for me!

You're not expecting us to make Round 2 of the Cup, then ?

Think Fridays are probably better if your local (Which I accept most people are).

yep true. even if i'm coming down for the weekend then i won't be able to see a friday night game. I think once or twice a season is ok, but we've got loads this year and seeing as they're not on Sky I really don't see the reasoning behind it, keep football at Saturday 3pm as much as possible

Yes,we could be drawn at home in Round 2,but the odds are 3/1 against!

Confused. A home second round tie would give a Saturday game in November. If we make the second round the odds are pretty much 50/50. If you're laying 3/1 against or even 2/1 remind me in November and I'll have a few quid on it.

You are calculating the odds as if we are already through to the second round. The odds of us getting a second round home draw are considerably longer than 50/50 if you bet now.

We have an even chance of getting a home tie in Round 1.
If you take our 1st round tie, plus the tie which will play the winner of our
tie,4 teams are involved, but only one team wiil be at home in R2.
Therefore,if you assume we have an even chance of making R2,our odds
of us getting a home tie in in the second round is 3/1 against.

Interesting. Firstly, we should have a better than evens chance of making Round 2 and, secondly, that logic is seriously flawed.

If we play on Saturdays we get under 7000 home fans... When we play on Friday night we always add on 500-1000 the gate at least

bigger gates mean more money... so goodbye Saturday afternoons then

I'm not sure this is the the case with Southampton
good fans, good support
I'm sure they would bring more fans if its on a Saturday

Im not so sure,

We havent really had chance to tell as anyone remoltely local/big has been moved to a Friday. Our only Saturdays have been Huddersfield which was first game of the season and I suspect a good gate and Oldham which lets be honest no-one in there right mind would turn up for.

Oldham brought about 50 at best I would say so had that been a Friday and say Millwall been a saturday the stats wouldnt reflect a higher friday night crowd.

I know. That's why I said "if we make the second round". I don't think you can bet now on an unknown fixture. Obviously if we get Leeds away the odds will be a lot longer but, say, Maidstone at home, they'd be pretty much the same.
