Just got back from a weekend away and I also went to the County game.

Terrible first half from both sides and County looked shocking to be honest. Not many chances, but amazingly Barrett nodded home again! Second half we pretty much controlled except a 5-10 min spell and towards the end we should have had another 2-3 on the break, with Dudfield and Gray guilty. Barretts second just proves how much his luck is in! As I remember, he jumped with another Southend player and sandwiched between two County defenders - yet he still looped it into the opposite side of the goal! Apart from the goals, Barrett was outstanding at the back and was our pick I think...

Ratings:-

Flavs: 7 - Not really troubled and came and claimed a few crosses well.
Jupp: 6 - Didnt get forward much, but defended well
Barrett: 9 - Not just for the goals, but a complete defensive performance.
Prior: 8 - As solid as Barrett without the goals!
Cheese: 6 - Same as Jupp, held his ground and linked well at times with Gower.
Petts: 7 - Good hard working performance, tracked back and closed down well.
Maher: 6 - Dunno how he got MOM in the NoTW. Gave the ball away too much, but when he didnt have the ball he worked hard.
Bentley: 8 - Got up and down and is a real driving force now. I fear he'll be stuck on the right when Smith is back.
Gower: 5 - Well out of sorts as we all know...
Dudfield: 6 - Worked hard, but should have scored at least 1 or 2 with the chances he had.
Bramble: 6 - Pick of the front two, but went off injured I presume?

SUBS:

Corbett: 5 - Didnt get into the game
Gray: 5 - Looked dangerous and a handful - until he got to the penalty area where he was just embarrassing... potential for sure.

I feel a bit sorry for County. I've always had a soft spot for them to be honest and there set-up begs for at least Div 1 (Champ) football - but for whatever reason its not happening. To see a really nice ground like that with a few people spread around and NO SINGING from the home support was shocking...
