southend_aussies

I come from a land down under
I just posted this to my Facebook with what Southend stand to win if they defeat Brentford in the replay.

"ESPN will show Southend V Chelsea live if Southend make it past their replay against Brentford in the third round of the FA Cup.

Want to know how much it costs?

Well the club will get 138,850 pounds for the television game between themselves and Chelsea.
...
They will get 67,500 for defeating Brentford and should they defeat Chelsea they will win 90,000 pounds.

So the replay against Brentford will possibly win the club 316387 Australian Dollars

and a further 138,000 if they defeat Chelsea.

Money doesn't speak in football does it...."

No pressure boys, but Ron Martin won't be happy.

Should mention that it doesn't count gate receipts or profits from the match being at Roots Hall, which could make the amount even larger.

add the replay gate receipts to the figures and then say 25/30 a ticket at the hall for chelski visit and figure starts getting up to the 500k mark

I don't understand any of this. Why are we talking Australian Dollars?

Surely we will either keep the British pound or join the Euro?

So with gate receipts (125k ??), we're looking at c£325k minimum if we beat Brentford...

Should enable the players to be paid for a couple of months, so there's an incentive for them to win...

Also the boxes will be rammed @ 80quid a pop?We really have to beat them .I want to feel like i do now next wednesday ,still nursing a hangover!

Ok, I think I need to clear this up. First part was in Pounds. So the first three figures are in pounds, while the last three were converted because I put this on my facebook. So in summary. We'll win about 200,000 pounds (not including gate receipts) if we win which is about 400,000 in Aussie dollars and then a further 90,000 pounds (138,000 Aussie dollars) if we beat Chelsea.

That should clear things up.
