no more pints???

graysblue

Banned
blooming ada,

why cant the lily livered brigade just leave people alone.

walk into a pub and ask the barstaff .........2 pints please........it works.

under possible new rules,

walk into a pub and ask the barstaff........2 three quarters of a pint..sounds crap to me.

I don't think anyone is talking about stopping the pint being available, but adding a size of glass widely used in Austrailia called a Schooner.

These two third glasses have been available in the UK for years at beer festivals and the likes, along with third pint glasses.

So not really a news story, but another piece of 'brussells bureaucrats banning age old British tradition' rubbish yet again......

the "brussells brigade" should in my view be told to feck off and sort out their own problems such as MEPS pilfering vast amounts of cash ect.

You should really stop believing what's in the Daily Mail GB, life would be so much rosier.

Absolutely, you should only believe the Trotsky-ite tosh that they print in the Guardian. You would think that the Mail prints daily extracts from 'Mein Kampf' the way you lot go on about it.

The cash thing has been a problem for years, our own returned elected representatives aren't helping with that. I seem to remember Kilroy-Silk claiming full salary and full expenses on an Anti-Europe ticket, and not attending one debate!

Europe have done some good things, making Holiday pay and Sick pay at the workplace part of British law for example.

This is actually a good thing; increasing consumer choice. I'd always want to order a pint, but for those who would prefer a 2/3, then why not give them the option? I should imagine they'll be dancing in the streets of Shepherd's Bush upon hearing this news.

Whatever happens, I'm never ordering anything less than a pint of beer (or a half if I'm really pushed) so frankly they can go :censored: themselves. I always find it funny when I go to Austria/Germany and you can order beer in 3 different sizes (0.5l, 0.3l, 0.2l). The smallest glass is only enough for a couple of sips at most and you just know that you'd get ripped off here in the UK proportionally for the amounts of beer in each glass!

While we're talking about measures, spare a thought for the Norwegians where the average price for a "pint" is around £8 and "pint" means around 0.4 litres :stunned:

I like they way the Mail boldly announces some 'miracle' cancer busting superfood every fortnight or so with only the slightest bit of scientific evidence to back up their claims.

I can only assume that this is because either:

1. They are in bed with the purple tomato, brocolli, green tea people or...

2. The paper is pitched at the the ever growing grey army who moan about the NHS without noticing that record numbers are living to old age.

Drinking from a pint glass is a statement of masculinity.

I am all for increasing the volume and range of drinking vessels as long as they proclaim the same level of masculinity.

With this in mind I am going to lobby my local to provide an option to serve beer in tiger skulls or WWII German infantry helmets.

I think thisis aimed at people who like to drink belgian fighting beer at 8 per cent..
Im a pints man but I wouldnt fancy tacking a pint of that stuff, Peroni is bad enough.. It also is an attempt to avoid the stigma of having to order ... 'a half ' then realising in horror the bar person has whisked your empty pint glass away before you had time to pour the half in it and throw the offending mini glass out of a nearby window..
