No Grant in the Squad for tomorrow

In fairness I don't think you can take that as gospel. There have been several occasions in the friendlies that players haven't been listed, but have been involved and vice versa.

As well as giving out a few rugged challenges on Monday he also took several & was limping on a couple of occasions. so injury could be a possibilty.

Hey, whadda you know. Surprise. Surprise No trialist left back either! :nope:

I'm starting to worry about the Grant situation. I was hoping he'd be signed up by now, especially after Macca got injured.

I spoke to Grant before the game. He said he hasn't signed yet, but he is going to. I did not ask him why he wasn't playing, but the fact that he travelled to Wycombe is a good sign.

Trouble is this is all sounding very familiar, please let's just get him signed up.

I think most of us liked what we saw of Grant last year, and his non compromising combative style will be badlly needed to complement the more flair type players.

Would be a massive blow if we lose out on him, so hope the deal can be done to secure his services soon.

Maybe he will be looking for starting 11 assurances as doubt he would want to be signing to languish in our reserves or permanently on the bench.

Cant think he would need assurances about starting with our current squad or lack of!

Not familiar at all.

Mulgrew left after his loan and we tried to buy him.

Grant has said he is signing and is training and travelling to friendlies.

We only lost out one player we were after and Im not sure why theres such pessimism about Grant. Pretty much a done deal from what I can see, although will be nice when he puts pen to paper.

It's a slight concern that he hasn't signed yet seeing as it's supposedly been a done deal for a couple of weeks now. It's important to remember though there are another Club in this story and for all we know the hold-up is at Chelsea's end. Grant has another year on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is probably due some sort of severance pay which could be delaying matters.

I feel that this is now crunch time in pre season negotiations that after trying to see what clubs come in for themselves and what kind of wages they can potentially earn , the players suddenly realise that clubs are not queueing up for them and then take the offer that has been put on the table.

I believe its no secret that the board want Grant and have put an offer to him , he now has to make a decision either to go and play reserve football at chelsea or come and play week in week out for a promotion pushing league 1 side .

So in that respect i know see us in the driving seat and feel he will sign and so may other players that we may have made offers to that have gone away to think things over ( try and see if they can get a bigger pay packet ).

Not all doom and gloom as if we get him our side could read as follows

Midenhall/ joyce

Francis
Barret
clarke
Grant
Scannel
Macca
Bailey
Walker
Barnard
Furlong

subs

Revell
Moussa
Sankofa
Herd
Peggy

That team is still fairly strong and will hold its own , add to that the fact that we will get some loanees in to booster it means that its no title winning team but with the right additions ( left back , winger , forward with pace ) i can see that being good enough for a top 6 finish again.

There was though, wasn't there?
Stating the bleeding obvious, indeed there was. But as I don't have extra sensory perception, only extra sensory perfection, I couldn't have foreseen that based on the club's own team list.

Also, they possibly missed out a trick there, as if they'd have told us Lewis Emmanuel was trialling probably a couple of thousand more would've travelled.

Anyway as discussed elsweher, we can't sign him as he's officially too short! So not really a triallist just making up the 11 we don't have.

An enquiry rather than a statement. I've subsequently discovered that we have a new friend from Luton.
