No further action

Justice has been done.
Has it?

Because of that 'keeper's false claims, our club's reputation has been dragged through the mud and a supporter has been put through uncalled for stress to say the least.

I doubt this development will be given anywhere near as much publicity as the initial claims were given.

To be honest, you're right Overseas Shrimper, and although I am happy to draw a line under this dragged out issue, I do feel hard done by. We have been branded as a club, for a false claim by a keeper, which national media took seriously, and were quick to point the finger. so no, I don't think justice has been served.

The difference: Allegations of racism made, front page splash.

Said allegations dropped because of no evidence, small missable column in the sports pages.

Fair?

All nicely swept under the carpet & forgotten now eh Ricketts?

How is it that he can accuse (unfounded as it turns out)someone (Nick?) of making racist comments/ gestures then when there is found to be no evidence then it is just dropped. End of.

Ricketts should face some form of discipline IMO for making false allegations. That should stop finger pointing without good reason.

Exactly, which is why the Club should have demanded a public apology from Ricketts and Bradford. The things Colin Todd said after the game (on BBC Essex of all places - shame on them) were down right scandalous.

Ricketts should be prosecuted for wasting police time, but it won't happen cos he would accuse the police of picking on him because he's-----------tall !

HEY! you can't come on this site making 'Height-ist' comments about innocent people.

(I agree with the bit about wasting police time tho. Don't think they'd have the balls tho)

Dead right - if anyone from the club is lurking/monitoring the threads today, some sort of statement from the club is needed, including the demand of an apology from Bradford City FC.

I imagine if an apology was requested, Ricketts and Bradford would insist that the abuse did happen and that the only reason the guy wasn't charged was because of lack of evidence.

It's Frustrating, but I just can't imagine them being prepared to own up to this. They would lose too much face. Much easier for them to stick to their story and claim 'justice wasn't done'. Well I think they're right on that one, but not for the reasons they would suggest.

Has the case being dropped been publicised on the 606 BBC boards yet?
Maybe a good way to get at least some level of publicity over the fact it was a load of overhyped excuses to disguise the truth.

Maybe we should all email that boyfrombrazil to55er again?

Im not sure a heavy handed approach by the club should neccesarily be taken.  If they go about demanding an apology and Ricketts and Todd entrench their views to save losing face, they will merely add publicity to the allegations and bring more publicity on 'rascist taunts at Roots Hall' etc.  Even without a shread of evidence, mud sticks unfortunately.

I think every effort though should be made to publisise the fact that no charges were brought....along the lines of the club announceing with pleasure that Mr Ricketts and Mr Todds allegations were found to be completely devoid of truth.

I also think that someone from the 'Lets kick rascism out of football' campaign should have a chat with Ricketts and Todd and let them know that their actions set back the campaign, in that if rascist abuse is reported, people may start doubting the reporting party......the old 'boy who cried wolf' situation....which is a same when such intolerable behaviour undoubtedly still occurs from time to time....

I think that Southend United have acted graciously throughout this unsavioury chapter of the season and remaining silent is probably the best way. Nick on the other hand still has the slight of guilty hanging over him if further evidence is found and could have his case relooked at which stinks. I know what I think and Ricketts is a filthy stinking liar who deserves nothing but loathing for the rest of his professional career.

I doubt the CPS will be too keen to take up the case of the boy who cried wolf again.

I see the Echo reported today that they may re-arrest Nick & pursue a prosecution if more evidence comes to light.

This does indeed stink, the CPS should draw a line under this one, not leave it hanging like an unsolved murder case.

IMO (& most South standers there that day) Ricketts is a spineless fool who shamelessly tried to pass off his ill advised actions onto a blameless 3rd party.
Playing the race card was disgusting & deserves nothing but utter contempt.
