Nice touch from Tilly...

A Century United

Highland Exile
.....to bring on Francis and Betsy at the end. If we had still been in with any shout I doubt that they would have been his first choice, but in the circumstances it was good that two of the more senior players got a few minutes against the big boys to remember. Good man management.

I actually thought that all the subs should have came on a lot earlier as Sankofa looked very lightweight and was being torn apart second half. Johnny Herd was also exposed last night when being attacked and they rounded him far too easily, he's still one for the future tho. I was waiting for a back line shuffle that never came. The ball was bouncing off Revs last night and he couldn't hold it up and never looked like scoring again. Betsy didn't make an impact. Dougie came on and was intelligent with his runs and distribution with the little that he saw of the ball at least he looked a threat.

None of this would have stopped a Chelsea win tho, but it would not have been by so many. Their foot work, passing and finding space was superb. It seemed as tho it was 11 against 13 sometimes.

agreed, but also would ahve liked to have seen Dougie come on a lot earlier. I didn't think that Barney did as well as others-- and I am taking into account who we were playing

Agree with that. I think we may need another defender though soon as Frano trudged off at the end very quickly, looks despondent with crowd at the moment.

We got on his back for playing rubbish, that didn't kick him into gear, he's been dropped, that doesn't seem to have done the job. When he's on next I think we should give him a song or something to boost his confidence as a fully confident Frano is a super right back.

It was nice for Francis to get on for sentimental reasons, if that is why Tilly did indeed do it, but I just wonder if Betsy had comeon at 1-2 down while we're still in with a shout, we may have been in a better position to claw something out of the game.

Herd was out on his feet quite a long way before the end, and it may have been slightly more prudent to replace him, especially with a game coming up this Saturday and no obvious replacement, but I'm just nit picking I guess.

I disagreed with you about this on another thread and I'll do so again. I was impressed with Sankofa and think he is a much better defender than we've seen from Francis this season. Herd did all that could ever have been expected of him and more.

We only had limited options available to us with regard to any re-shuffle of the back line and I don't think any other tactics would have faired much better.

Sankofa was left exposed for most of the game because Revell wasn't dropping far enough back.

Personally I was very disappointed with our subs. I'd have rather have ended on a high. Freedman just doesn't have the legs to play that role and would rather have seen Walker on for Revell, who just wasn't at the races. Can only imagine Grant was injured. Not sure what Betsy was going to offer.

Still giving Freedman, Betsy and Francis a run-out is a sop towards those who think our season is all about the league.
