Next Season.

I myself have given away this season , also i ve pretty well stated my feelings for Maher ,albeit im also of the belief he will still be here, So to me its more about COSU and how i believe they should go about next season. Firstly i believe there should be a cleanout of under performing players, if that means paying off their contracts or just putting them on transfer list so be it, Still and Co should definitely be looking not just at lower league gems but also cast offs from academies from premiershite down, there will be and always is some gems let go from clubs higher up the food chain ,about time we got our share off them ,start a "B" Team also make it a priority ,get the new training complex finished ASAP.Give Maher and Co a decent budget so there can be no excuses from him or anyone on here. COSU show good intent and im sure season ticket sales will be very good , without the intent shown by COSU then im not so sure ST will be so good .At present what we have in players mostly are ones that have more off days than good days, need a decent size squad also , make every player earn his place, Maher needs to stop choosing his favourites and out of form players and start having some trust in others , as i see it he is picking players that perform in traing ,i would rather he picked players that perform in a match, Many good players were under performers on the training track Gascoigne being oneSo many perform on the training track and leave it all there , sounds like a few of ours .Anyway i wont ramble on but i hope you get my gist of what im hoping for .

After the chaos of the last few years a season like the one we are having was almost inevitable. A final couple of kicks in the balls to start the season with the late takeover, loss of cardwell and Kensdale just the cherry on the poop cake.
At this point, building and planning for next season is the wise move imo.
I'm still leaning towards a big player exodus with a busy summer transfer window rather than new gaffer, he's earnt at least one summer where the club isn't bat$#!€ crazy. Although I will be far harsher in judgement next season if we are not challenging at the top end.

You make some very good points. Southend all time legend, Billy Best, was not a good trainer I believe, but boy did he light up the Hall and so many of our lives.

I would like to see COSU give Kev the opportunity to build a young and exciting team in the summer, seeing as he should now be free to sign first choice targets etc.

For me it’s so important we get the spine of the team nailed down, with a good ball playing central centre back, a central midfielder (Miley just doesn’t look the same class as before unfortunately) and a mobile target man. Basically Kensdale, Miley and Cardwell replacements. If we can do that, get rid of some dead weight and some cover/competition in other areas, I think we’ll have a good season.

I’m not against Kev’s 5 at the back and wingbacks, but it’s no coincidence that it’s only ever really been effective with Cardwell who was so vital to that system. If we can’t get an adequate replacement in the summer for whatever reason, I think Kev needs to be realistic and change things up. If that means we need to go and sign some wingers to fit a different system then so be it. But we can’t plod through the whole of next season with no ‘Cardwell’ up front as it just doesn’t work.

We need about 5 or 6 players who are ready to walk into the starting XI and can hit the ground running.

We need different types of players (especially wide players that can contribute in the final third) to give the manager some tactical flexibility.

We need those players in early so the management can work on shape, strategy & cohesion in pre-season.

COSU need to sort out the training facilities to allow the players to have a better and easier routine.

I agree, I have also written off this season. January is not the time to be spending inflated prices on average players especially as we will likely end up mid-table.

I however cannot see COSU wanting to give Kev a big budget this summer; unless there is a positive change in results, which is unlikely. I therefore expect a change in management at the end of the season which will allow a new management team time to assess squad and build for next season.

I would love to see if we could tempt Dean Brennan here, which could be possible if Barnet fail to secure promotion.

The training facilities are a work in progress it seems. Pretty sure they will be fully up and running before training starts next season, if not before.

May seems to be a significant month for transfer activity as many Clubs at our level and especially below, contract players to the end of May rather than June. We of course have been prevented from doing business this early before.

After the takeover we were told November. I hope it's seen as a priority, it's bread and butter for the club.

We will need to get players in next season who can handle pressure. Expectations from the fans will be massive and big crowds will easily turn on the players if we are not battling for 1st place
