Next season's betting

C C Csiders

Life President
Looking longingly at my Corals Ante-Post football betting slip in anticipation of skipping down there to collect my winnings I noticed that both Brighton and Crewe were 150/1 to win the Championship last/this season (whichever way you look at it). Watford incidentally were 80/1.

I suspect that both ourselves and Col Ewe will be 150/1 next season.

Might be worth sticking a tenner on that then...

Or rather it would be, if I could bet in the first place and had money to bet.

Woah, that's some long odds there.

I wonder what the odds on relegation will be... we'll be favorites again, no doubt.

33-1 again?

Both Brighton and Crewe were 5/4 to be relegated.

Pretty accurate stuff on them from the bookies. Millwall were 5/2 joint third favourites to go down.

I have a vision for next year...we are struggling badly and are bottom at christmas, all the ******* in the crowd are calling for Tilly's head, the board gives in Tilly is released, we turn to an experienced head to turn the ship around, there's a media  frenzy, who will it be - eventually the new appointment we've all been waiting for, yes the return of Steve Wignall, his  first game is on New Years Day and we scrape a 0-0 draw against pi$$wich at the Hall, but are still deep up sh!tcreek without a paddle or a canoe in sight - but then comes the masterstroke, SW signs an unknown striker from a struggling Conference side, Praise The Lord it's the return of Drewe Broughton, he scores 45 goals in the second half of the season and we clinch the final play off place with a 4-2 win at Wolves on the last game of the season, Drewe scores 3 and sets up the game clincher on a plate for Sir Frederick of Eastwood. - the playoffs are a formality and the Shrimpers are in the top flight for the first time and Drewe has finally reached his spiritual home.

What odds on that then?

10'000'000 - 1 *only if you see any flying pigs in the sky*
