Biggest load of guff I've read since Ron's Sturrock statement. Half of that may as well be written in French for most of our fans. Don't they rewrite press releases to suit their audience. I look forward to my online ticketing "journey".

Manages to say a lot without actually saying anything at all................have no idea how this will actually impact the buying of a ticket or what actual changes there will be!

Hope they don't ruin the online ticket service, thought it was actually quite good and really easy to use.

So to sum up we're getting a new online ticket ordering service and Steve Kavanagh is really excited about it for some reason.

Years ago we had a superb online system , then Ron got one of his mates the contract to bring in a useless system where you couldnt even choose your own seat. After years of suffering this , we finally got in a great system which was very user friendly and easy to navigate. Now we are ditching it , God knows what the new one will be like , but experience tells me to manage my expectations very low.

Being one of the older generation of supporters - I havnt the slightest clue as to what that statement means! Think I will be still visiting the ticket office in person to purchase my tickets! O for the days of pay on the day at a turnstile!!

My translation of the statement is:

- we're getting a new ticketing system!
- the system is cloud-based, in other words the administrative side can be accessed from any web browser anywhere in the world, rather than an on-site database which typically would only be accessible locally
- the interface should be more user friendly / intuitive for both supporters and the ticket office
- the ticketing portal will blend into the website more than the existing system does
- the main aim would be to create a ticket less stadium, with access either by season cards or barcodes/QR codes (on mobile phones)
- down time should be minimal
- multiple ticketing options may be available (purchasing tickets for multiple games) - I suspect cup matches may also be facilitated on the new system although I can't verify this

As tempting as it is to take a 'if it ain't broken' attitude, that does look very nice. They also have the ability to buy away tickets on there, and if we could have a ticket-less stadium that would be pretty cool.

Apparently, next years Col Utd system is going to be even better than this.
Their team manager is going to personally deliver it through the guy's letterbox each week ! :winking:

The most important thing for us fans is not the device we can buy tickets from, but the ability to pick our own seats. I'm still none the wiser after reading that.

Gills have a seat picking option and the ability to create 'favourite seats' therefore I'd be confident that we'd have similar functionality.

Maybe it's a step forward.
For the last 2 home games, I bought my tickets on-line, duly posted to me, upon arrival at turnstile, got a "red light"...needed the steward's swipe card to get the 3 of us in.
