New Striker

Manager🦐
In this morning's People newspaper:
"Southend boss Steve Tilson want's to snap up slick striker Andy Morrell on a free transfer from Coventry".

hope not! 40 games and only 3 goals this year!!! even jupp or wilson would be more prolific up front.

Morrell started 10 league games for Coventy scoring 2 goals, the rest of his appearences were as sub. When was the last time Jupp and Wilson scored 2 goals between them in the Championship?

Is he a big target man type?

Where is Drewe when you need him....

IMO I think to a certain extent we have to forget what any prospective striker or any other player Tilly n Brush are after has done at their previous clubs and concentrate on the ability of Tilly n Brush to get the best out of players that perhaps havn't been managed to well at their previous clubs.

Morrell was sh*t hot at Wrexham before he went to Cov. Just because it hasn't worked out for him at the Ricoh doesn't mean he's no good.

Besides, if Tilly & Brush decide they want him, then that's good enough for me. They've done pretty bloomin' well with our signings so far, haven't they...

Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand are both shorter than Freddy.

Eastwood isn't sh!t in the air, he just doesn't get the chance to use his head very often as he doesn't get on the end of things very often. He's not that type of striker. Look at his debut though - two goals from two very good headers.

To be fair there isn't much to Freddy's game that you can criterise but he heading is poor. Mainly because he has the upper body strength of a 13 yr old girl.

Being honest, he's so **** hot nobody really notices, but I can't think of many worse headerers of the ball in professional football.

I'd fancy JRC to win a battle...

Exactly!

Id be quietly happy with if Morrel signed. As MtS quite rightly pointed out he was excellent at Wrexham. On the other hand maybe he hasn't quite made the transition to the better league but he certainly knows where the net is and has proved he is capable of scoring 20 odd per season. It would be typical Tilly signing if you ask me, maybe the same mould as Bradbury - I can see alot of people knocking him before he has even been given a chance but I'm pretty sure he would score goals.

Surely not! Les Ferdinand shorter than Eastwood? That can't be right!!

Hmm. Would be a useful player to have in the squad I suppose. Wouldn't be too thrilled if he was Freddy's new regular partner though.

That's strange, just shows you how one player can be so much more dominant in the air than another of the same height and because of this everyone assumes the more dominant player is taller - I always thought Ferdinand was around 6ft 2!!!!!

Me too, I saw him QPR vs Arsenal many moons ago and he looked huge !

I would have said Les would have dwarfed Freddy but then again Les was a far stockier guy so maybe it gave an optical illusion..
