New Pitch

IANichols

Youth Team
Who thinks we might have a few problems this year, at one point in the second half a sliding tackle on front of the East Stand took a massive lump out of the turf. Poor Groundsman must of been having nightmares

sure it will be fine! they put a new pitch down every year..... the groundsmen know exactly what they are doing and it will settle down very soon

Got a while untill the next home game anyway so should have plenty of time to repair that.

Not quite correct.

In the past they have just added more topsoil to the pitch & re seeded it, leaving the original playing surface below.

This year the pitch was dug up, the area levelled and then seeded, so it is a totally new playing surface.

You could see where they were doing their pre-match warm ups that the pitch wasnt quite as solid as before.

Im sure they know what they are doing, afer all I reseeded my back garden long before they did the pitch and mine looks rubbish.

From the South Upper, Row E it looked as if the pitch had been shortened a touch. If I remember rightly normally when you look down you cannot see the touchline unless standing up on your tip toes and leaning forward - I maybe totally wrong, anyone else notice this?

Would cost far too much considering we're moving in 3 seasons...

So the legendary Southend United camber has gone - shame.

Now the ball can be played down the wing and stay on the pitch, thats another advantage lost then.

Are you kidding?

That news was put up on the OS on the morning of April 1st. Does that give you any clues?

thats not the relaying of the pitch but its because Jupps gone.

The pitch is now level which should make a big difference - I'm sure I wasn't the only one surprised how bumpy it was when we went on after the Bristol City game. The new surface should ensure for better football.
