Match of the Day presenters: Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan to host MOTD

Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan will be the new Match of the Day presenters, the BBC has announced.

"I think what's interesting is although we're sharing the role, we won't actually be working together on Match of the Day," she said (Logan).

It'll be one and a pundit or two I'd imagine.

I still watch it sometimes (although I fast forward through the analysis bits), most of the YouTube highlights on Sky Sports etc. only do 3 minutes which is rubbish.

I like all of these presenters, but I am fed up with the BBC shoehorning women in as presenters on EVERY single damn sports programme. And none of these has played the game. For me, MOTD's excellence over the years has been dependant on the insight of people who have played and experienced the game at the highest level.

Des Lynam had a tremendous playing career .

The Pundits do the analysis stuff , the presenters present ,
Lineker was a woeful presenter when he started , but he learnt the trade well , These three , are all seasoned presenters and will , whichever of the MOTD Shows (Champions League , MOTD2 or the flagship Saturday show) they present, will hit the ground running

And their combined salaries are still probably less than what WE were paying GL

I've no doubt, Gary, but, for myself, I like the insight of the ex pro.

Ultimately this is why Lineker was paid so much - you can count on one hand the number of ex-pros that are good presenters. Before the controversy Jermaine Jenas was the best ex-pro the BBC had and he doesn't have a tenth of the charisma Lineker does.
