Question New East stand - which style / design do you prefer?

1000025719.jpgSomething like man city old maine Rd 3 tier stand at Roots Hall would be pretty cool but probably little bit out of our price range.

I think I'll leave it to experts like @Sherif H

At minimum it should be able to hold the main bulk of season ticket and box holders, have enough space for corporate functions, more food outlets and toilet facilities, and not be a constant concern of burning down at any point!
Yep this has been done to death on other threads & I "think" the Posh rebuild was one of @Sherif H which is a great example of what can be done on a limited budget.

I always feel for @Sherif H when this subject comes up as he's provided loads of information & details about what we could possibly achieve but then the stadium building experts come on here & criticise him. I'd definitely leave it to him as my experience of building stadiums was erecting the barrier round my Subbuteo pitch when I was about 10, a few! years ago now. 🤣

Yeah, he says he’s an expert, but I bet @Sherif H hasn’t even considered turning the pitch 180 degrees.

Think of the possibilities

Let's face it there are many specialist stadium architects and builders. I have faith that COSU will tender and get the best outcome. Loads of good designs out there. There must be no stanchions. You start will how many seats and with the limited options for upgrading the other stands it's got to be big. At least I would think 6000 plus. Is this possible given the plot. A great pity about the sun but we're buggered with this.

I'm just really happy that we are talking about a rebuild of the Old Girl rather than moving to Fossetts...

In answer to the question - no I wouldn't move into a new East Stand. I rather like the West Stand, I like the people who sit around me and I like the atmosphere.

Get rid of the bloody pillars at the front when @Sherif H does a modular rebuild and I'll be happy.

More bothered about decent food and drink but that's another thread I'm sure...

Brentfords South Stand in replace of our East Stand. Don't loose too much of the car park.

Could give the South Stand to away fans and remodel it so there is an entrance via Roots Hall Avenue or the South East Corner of the East Stand. This gives the whole of the North to the home fans.

I believe the area i've shaded in red is waste ground hopefully owned by the club (its where the Beckham Soccerdome astro turf was kept (prior to a couple of fires)

Not a fan of the Oldham design, what atmosphere there is would disappear with the roof so far away. Also I think they look terrible, Barnets being an extreme example
2 tiers boxes in the middle is much better in my opinion
Oldham’s stand reminds me of the one at Orient, plus it’s too small at abt 2,500 seats.

The Huddersfield and Bolton Stands were "state of the Art" when build, with the curves and flowing lines; classy imo.
As opposed to the boxy Rotherham type of utilitarian economy.

And in answer to @leeblue, I would be pleased to swap my seat in the current East for a similarly situated seat in the New East. Great group of long season ticket holders around my seat.

Don't get to many home games these days but I would definitely sit in a shiny new East Stand (while the rest of the ground was the same) for my occasional visits. I normally go in the West but let's face it, the facilities are awful, you've got pillars and it takes ages to get out. As long as the sun isn't still in your eyes! 😅

I think the Peterborough one is the best of those posted, but obviously with the dugouts and tunnel added in. I wonder if we'd have normal benches or have the dugouts as seats to retain some of the character of the current stand.
