New 'gherkin' tactical genius

Ron Manager

Guest
So, after sustained criticism of his tactical naiveity at the last home match Hooly 'Goran-Eriksson' relinquished control of the 'Lucky Gherkin' last night to a more old-school manager - Ron Manager in fact ("jumpers for goalposts" etc).

His bold attacking move of the whole gherkin being consumed just 5 minutes into the second half paid off, with a vital one-nil victory. This common sense approach to the game was a refreshing change to the nonsense we have had to put up with in recent games, when Hooly retains control of the tactics on Saturday we all hope he takes this on board!

I think at this vital stage of the season we should husband our resources carefully, and also address the problem of the small "Gherkin Squad" size. Having only one Gherkin available, when there is always the possibility of injury, being dropped, etc is unwise. I vote that we should try and get a second Gherkin in, even if it is only on loan, so that we have cover for this vital area.

I agree, but this is one area where we should trust Hooly's judgement. Whilst doubts remain about his tactical nous I'm sure very few of us doubt that he knows how to spot a gherkin, he has yet to make a bad purchase.

Oi!  What's all this relinquished control crap?

I asked Ronald 'Kev "attack is the best form of attack" Keegan' Manager for his views on a hypothetical situation invoving a hypothetical gherkin.  I didn't notice Ronald having the guts to get his own gherkin to put this theory to the test, so fortunately whipped out the spare that I always carry on my person just in case of emergencies.  Personally I thought the gherkin gobbling espoused by Ronald was rather premature.

Get your own gherkin in future you glory hunter!

Ah, but you went along with it nonetheless and we won 1-0!

It's a results business and we got a result, I rest my case.....

You lot have got it all wrong. I ate the "real" lucky gherkin in the Spread at 6pm, a bit early perhaps , but in view of the inclement weather the gherkin managed to ward off the snow until well into the second half.
An early gherkin is a good gherkin.
