Neil Harris

Sorry if this has been posted before.

If we reach league one then we could get Neil Harris but the deal rests on wether we go up? This is from a friend who is well connected at Millwall.
Does this mean potentially we are losing a striker or replacing Bramble.
Is this a well sourced "rumour" ?

yes you are correct, he's at Notts Forest which has left me a little confused, I shall make a few angry calls.

He is at Forest but i have it on good authority that he is not someone Megson wants to keep next year even though they went down.

...have just spoke to the chap behind this and he says that Notts Forest want him out, and are going for a general clear out anyway. He also says that he'd personally like him back at Millwall but that's not gonna happen, good signing if true.
lets beat the cobblers, and since when did people fear beating Macclesfield

I heard a whisper about Harris a few months back as well, but again based on us being League One next season.

I would have thought Forest wouldn't want to sell a proven goalscorer to one of their League One rivals (Thats based on the fact thats his only going to come to us if we go up).

If we were to get him, that would be a massive signing for the Club, and quite a high profile one at that. His a local boy as well, which Tilly seems to like, so perhaps this rumour isn't so far fetched.

Except for the last couple of years he hasn't been scoring when he has been playing, he hasn't even been getting games in a team that are playing near the bottem of the division.
Megson definately wants him out and being from Southend and an ex rayleigh boys player maybe he would like to come back home.

We need a experienced striker and i think Neil harris fits the bill perfectly. Last i heard he was living in Rayleigh he would be 1st class if we managed to sign him

I believe his Millwall's highest ever goal-scorer so he must have something about him.

Granteed he hasn't been on great form of late but, to be fair, his had to overcome cancer and has had his share of injuries that have hampered his progress. His still relativily young as well as being experienced, could prove to be a decent signing.

Also, didn't he start his career at Maldon Town?

Was it Vic Jobson that said Neil Harris wasnt good enough after scoring about 600 goals in 2 seasons for an Essex non-league team?

He would be a terrific signing if he hasn't lost his scoring touch - but has he been finding the net regularly since his problem ?

He hasn't been scoring much or even playing much in the last couple of years. I know he's local and I know we need an experianced, physical presence up front but I'd be more inclined to look at Tommy Mooney, who is out of contract and seemingly unhappy at Oxford, who played 50 games this season and who can be relied upon for his fair share of goals.

He's yet to score against an English team this season!

Personally I don't think he is the answer. We should be looking for someone to partner Eastwood, and I don't think Neil Harris is that type of player. The type of forward we should be looking for is someone in the Benji, Bramble or Mooney mould - someone combining a physical presence and footballing intelligence.

Great minds think alike!

I think if we had Mooney and Eastwood up front together we would have had the championship sewn up before the LDV final. Mooney is a class act and I'd love to see him back at Roots Hall.

No that was Steve Jones.

Jobson preferred the unknown Collymore despite Blues fans at the time clamouring for Jones. Everyone was very dissappointed when it was Collymore who turned up at the Hall, especially as it conincided with the exit of Benji. Didn't work out too badly though!

Why would Steve Jones say that about Neil Harris....?

Anyway, Forest released around a dozen players yesterday. Does anyone know if Harris was one of them?
