I'm needing to find out what the biggest album sales on CD and Cassette Tape ever released were for my dissertation and I cannot find it anywhere! I'm googling it and looking on most other search engines too but to no avail.

Does anyone know where I can find this info from, as I need Artist's, title of albums and the amount sold.

Why I choose this dissertation, I have no idea! Cheers :)

I was going to say, I'm guessing you're after figures. That's quite an obscure question and you may well have to try ringing around the industry a bit.

Good that you've picked something that'll make you work for your dissertation.

:(

On the plus side, it will look very impressive if you get some industry comment and stats. Try contacting (somehow) someone who is/was (is it still on) a researcher for TOTP 2 as they would almost certainly know.

That's another thing thats annoyed me about the dissertation. We've been banned from using Wikipedia, Encarta etc because they claim 'they're unreliable and not proper sources to use'. :(

To be fair, anyone can write as they please on wikipedia so that one has to be discounted for anything you need to be factually true. Encarta's a funny one.

I genuinely reckon that people will be willing to help if you ring round a bit and you may be able tog et later help with other aspects.

According to The Recording Industry Association of America's Top-Selling Albums of All Time: 29 Million - Eagles: Their Greatest Hits, 1971–1975, Eagles (Asylum)

That's just in the US though. That does make interesting reading though.

As soon as you mention those websites to the lecturers, they start swearing lol

I've tried to get in touch with some music companies, but to no avail. I know some people who work in Virgin, and they aint allowed to look up data for me cos they might get in trouble.

Just found out that the Biggest Selling Album in the UK was Queen's Greatest Hits. But no idea how many was bought

Cant you just make something up? If it aint on google they probably wont find it anywhere else. I thought that Garth Brooks bloke sold ****loads.

I think the self entitles "We are the Cheeky Girls" sold slighlty more than Thriller. 4 more copies by my recollection. ;)
