My view for what it's worth on Saturday's game

Tad harsh i think!
Many of the points they make are worthy of debate and i would imagine based upon the apparent continuation of tactics/performance, from last seasons debacle. At least they are stating their reasons for concern (justified or not) rather than the mantra of excuses for what in all essence looked a pretty average team.

Wiggy does not make points, she slanders and accuses and berates EVERYTHING. If she made points, we would not be having this discussion !!

Harrold is just not upto the job, and Hooper didn't look good either. The pair didn't play well together as well. when you look at our strikers, who can we honestly say is going to bang the goals in this season?

:(

Do you think its reasonable to write off a partnership after 50 minutes ?

Lets give them a few games to see how they get on.

The only player that came out with any credit on saturday was Barrett!!

Thought Clarke had a good game, JCR looked dangerous and our main outlet with 10 men, McCormack look good until he got sent off.

Gilbert made some mistakes but looked good, linking well with JCR up the right.

We need a new striker big time!

Where's the Eastwood money gone???

:(

Who do you suggest its spent on ? Even if we had 2million to spend I dont see who we would buy...

I think that Tilly is very slow to make telling substitutions and I don't think buying non-league strikers is going to work every time , Freddy was a true exception. I have sat and watched many games and thought that Tilly and Brush have been out-thought by opposing managers, perhaps T & B are not quite the dynamic managers we think they are.
As for your comment re small clubs and strikers , Col Ewe did very well with Jamie Cureton last year, if they can do it why can't we ?

Ive never really seen T&B as tacticalk geniuses and I agreee substitutions are their weak point.

As to Cureton, Col U did well there, unearthed a gem, however no one here was exactly singing his praises when he signed for them.

Of course we should be looking for a new striker, which they obviously are but it really isnt as easy as some people think it should be. Unfortunately Eastwood has raised everyones expectations that we should have a 20 goal a season striker when the reality is most teams dont.

I'll answer one question.

Q: Where's the Eastwood money gone???

A: It's still in the bank. The money we got from Freddy will just about get you a £500k striker (taking into account signing-on fee, bonuses, wages etc.). It looked to me like we were talking in those sort of financial terms with O'Donovan.

It's going to take a fair bit of looking at players, negotiating with their clubs and agents before we spend that sort of cash.

Can we at least knock on the head any idea that we can go and sign somebody for a million pound or so. That sort of player will cost you about £3million over three years and may then walk away for free.

Even to get in a Sheringham or Parlour is going to cost in the region of £400k a year in wages and bonuses, even if there's no transfer fee. And it's not as if we can pay for these players by putting extra bums on seats; we haven't got many more seats for them to sit on until we get the new stadium.

You carry on being careful with our money Tilly. I want the club to exist for a good few years yet.

I'll put forward a possible answer to another of TTK's questions too.

Q: Why oh why does Tilly leave subs so late in the game again.

A: Judging by the activity on the touchline, he had planned to bring the subs on earlier but Maher picked up a knock and he needed to have a rethink in case Maher couldn't continue. He didn't want to bring Maher off as we had no real cover for him on the bench following McCormack's dismissal and replacement in the middle of the park by Bailey. He therefore need to wait and see what would happen with Kev before bringing the subs on. Also until 5 minutes from the end 1-1 was looking likely and he'd have been happy to settle for that with only 10 men on the pitch.

Now I don't know if Tilly has changed his approach to subs; it looks to me that we'll continue bringing them on at 70mins (barring injury replacements). 20-odd minutes seems to be about right to me.

Harrold isn't Tilson's buy... Harrold is Brushy's favourite by all accounts and he's been raving on about him for years, Hence why we were chasing him for some time before we signed him. So maybe it's Brush's judge of player we should be questioning.
