My Ratings .........

For what its worth

Collis - 6.5- not at fault for the goal and done well when called into action

Francis -6 Got caught out of position to many times in first half , but better in second half and composed on the ball.

Clarke MOM - 7.5 Carried on from when i saw him at Gillingham , won everything and deserved better from his team mates.

Hunt 7 - thought he won lots of headers and his pace was a bonus and reads the game quite well , would like to see him partner Clarke again

Barrett 6 - not really in the game and too many misplaced passes

Gower 5.5 - just not at the races today

Bailey 5.5 - same as above

Maher 6.5 - pick of the midfield , can't fault his effort but got over run today , as team mates let him down

Macca - 6 Totally lost out wide , but did improve as the game went on and did threaten their goal once or twice with the drive and desire we all know he has .

McD - 6 - Had to feed on scraps and can't believe the amount of long balls aimlessly pumped at him , showed some good touches and worked hard as usual.

Morgan -6 - same as above really , found himself isolated to many times after working some space for himself .

Subs

Black 5 - didn't really touch the ball

Hooper - 6 - done well when he came on and looked our biggest threat .

Ref- 7.5 - had a good game as hardly noticed him

good calls!

try to look on the positives and the only thing I have a problem with is the long balls to the wrong men to be fair.

true the ref had decent game (especially when he didn't give them the penalty)

I thought the game was crying out for Harrold. Someone to hold the ball up top and aim those long passes at. Rovers sucked us in to playing their way and once we were doing that we should have stuck some height on. But no doubt he'd have been booed as he came on.

What started as "a bad day at the office" vs Oldham has quickly evolved into a bad week/month.

I really hope theres some nice surprises coming in the transfer window as the team look short of confidence and toothless upfront without Clarke. Whoever is writing todays' match report could easily recycle one of our other 1-0 home defeats. As usual the opposition took their chance when it was presented. Whenever Hooper/Morgan/McD/Harrold are in a seemingly goalscoring 1on1 you always have the feeling they are going to miss.

At the moment I'm investing a lot of my hopes in a non-league winger who is unproven at this level and is about to make 3 steps up the pyramid.

I thought the Ref was excellent today, i have seen Mr Singh about 10 times and thought each time he was quality.

Our ratings... All of them 6 out of 10.

I thought he made more mistakes than usual but I'm a fan of the way that he referees matches. The players seem to respect him too.

He should have given them a pen in the first half for the foul that he said was on the edge of the box. Looked a good couple of yards inside the area to me.

I thought that there was too much lack of effort.

Maher needs to be dropped to the bench, he plays too much 'crablike' football with his first instinct always to be a sideways pass. We looked a much better side when Macca and Bailey was in centre midfield.

For me:

Collis 6.5 not a lot to do and no chance with the goal

Barrett 6 not to his usual standard, perhaps uncomfortable at left back

Hunt 6.5 a couple of mistakes but didnt let the side down

P. Clarke 7 reliable once again

Francis 6.5 got better as time went on needs a good run in the side

Macca 6 took some barracking from the West stand before he showed any determination

Maher 6.5 cant doubt his effort but not positive enough

Gower 4.5 once again a lack of effort and was caught hiding when the going gets tough (as at Gillingham)

Bailey 5.5 only showed glimpses of his known ability

Morgan 5 not good enough for this side and needs to return to Luton

Macdonald 7 could not fault his efforts but lacked of supply chances. Missed Leon Clarke

Hooper 4.5 unfair to expect him to shine with lack of time or matches given

Black 3 for turning up

Harrold should have been brought on for his height to give the Bristol defence something different to think about

Tilson & Brush 4 What game were they watching?

Always interesting to see differing opinions.

Collis 6: From my position directly behind the shot, I thought he was at fault for the goal to be honest. He tried to anticipate the shot across him and in the end a weak shot squirmed past him. Made a couple of other saves but generally had nothing to do.

Francis 7: Thought he did well. Added some much needed drive going forward and some height at the back. Keep him in.

Clarke 6.5: Didn't really have much to deal with and was lucky the ref decided free kick and not penalty in the 1st half.

Hunt 7: I was stunned to see him line up at centre half but he did quite well although he faced nothing of note. Better than at left back that's for sure.

Barrett 6: Wasn't great and him playing at left back definitely didn't help out lack of width. Didn't seem himself.

McCormack 5.5: Poor. Looked like a lost little boy and wasn't himself. Late night last night Alan?

Bailey 7: Wasn't great in the 1st half but back to his all action self in the 2nd when he seemed to be everywhere.

Maher 5: What has happened to him? Not the same player anymore unfortunately.

Gower 5: Poor. Nuff said.

Morgan 5: Bye bye. I think we've seen why Luton don't play him.

MacDonald 6.5: Gotta love his effort, but with a complete lack of service from his half arsed team mates, he never got a sniff today.

Subs:

Hooper 6.5: Should've scored, but it was one of those shut your eyes, hit it hard moments and unfortunately it hit the keeper. Added a bit of needed spark though.

Black 5: Had a couple of great chances to get the ball in the danger area and fluffed them horribly. Though I'm not totally enamored by a player who strolls out 10 mins after everyone else for the pre match warm up, more interested in looking for his family in the exec boxes and then does the exact same thing at half time. Good commitment Tommy, real good.

Best person on the pitch? The ref. Others should learn from him. Not fussy, not picky, didn't want to book players at the first chance and wanted the game to flow.

Bristol Rovers were crap, yet we still lost with a wimper. Not good times at all. Not looking forward to Saturday at all now.

That was because we pumped endless long balls down the throat of two 6ft 2 centre halves , had no pace on the wings and gave their midfield to much time on the ball, having said that i thought BR's front 2 looked dangerous and the left winger was fairly tricky and had a bit of pace on the break ........the biggest factor was the effort they put into the game compaired to ours

Interesting ratings re Clarke, defends well but often ends up with the ball at the back and his idea of "Distribution" is to hump the ball 50 yards up the pitch with what can be best described as a searching ball. Needs to really work on this part of his game, opposition are more than happy tolet him have the ball but close down anyone else

We could do worse than having Elliott or Hinton in our side. Was impressed with them.

i agree with most of this except i would award francis with the worst player of today giving him a 4.5 and i would bump up bailey as he was everywhere and playing for himself and maher as maher wasnt doing his job so bailey i would give a 6.5 and maher the 5
