Motherwell Captain Dies Playing Today

Mortherwells captain Phil O'donnel died today whilst playing against Dundee utd.

Appartently he was being subbed and as he was just walking off the pitch he collapsed and later died , his nephew was playing in the same team and got subbed as he was not in a mental state to concentrate and was later rushed to the hospital to be by his side .

I never really heard of Phil O'donnell but all the same a very sad event , and this is getting a little more common as about the 4th or 5th player i have read about in the last year albeit most at sunday league level that iseen in the papers :(

A sad day in football and just puts football into perpestive really !!!

it is frightening how regularly these kinds of incidents are happening. It makes you wonder whether our athletes are given the right advice.

Never happened in the 70s when they had steak, egg and chips pre-match and hops, malt, barley and water energy drinks the rest of the time they were awake.

this sort of thing is happening more and more and its horrible. just seen footage of fans etc leaving shirts outside the stadium. very sad.
