Whilst searching on the web for something else, I came across this article on James Beattie at Accrington Stanley. It goes to show that times are tough everywhere and what some managers will do to help their clubs survive.

Interesting article, a bit like a shorter version of our own Garry Nelson's "Left foot in the grave" detailing his time at Torquay.

Beattie comes across as a decent bloke in this - still hope Stanley go down though!

I am sure the set-up at Southend does not include the manager haggling over hotels and travel costs.

There was a documentary on Accy a few years ago, when John Coleman was still manager. The chairman was a stereotypical tight northern g*t. Very entertaining though and well worth a watch, makes us look like a "giant" of League 2!
